Job description

We are looking for a talented Quality Inspector – Level II to join our team specializing in Quality for our Cummins Inc. facility in Mineral Point, WI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Ensure Product Quality : By verifying that products meet technical specifications, you help maintain high standards and prevent defective items from reaching customers.

  • Detect and Prevent Defects : Your keen eye for detail and use of measurement tools will catch issues early, reducing waste and rework.

  • Support Continuous Improvement : Documenting non-conforming products provides valuable data that can be used to improve processes and product design.

  • Uphold Company Standards : By following established norms and quality standards, you reinforce the company’s commitment to excellence and compliance.

  • Train and Empower Others : Sharing your expertise in measurement techniques and documentation helps build a stronger, more capable team.

  • Enhance Production Efficiency : Your role in identifying and removing defective products ensures smoother operations and fewer disruptions on the production line.

  • Protect Brand Reputation : Ensuring only high-quality products leave the facility helps maintain customer trust and brand integrity.

  • Bridge Between Production and Quality : You serve as a critical link, ensuring that production outputs align with quality expectations and technical requirements.

Additional Information

  • Component and assembled part layout in accordance with prints.

  • Finished goods audit.

  • Line Romer for quality concerns.

  • Support capability studies on critical, major, and minor characteristics.

  • Support Calibration system (inspection, test equipment, functional gages).

  • Assist with the development of JQA’s (Job Quality Analysis Sheets).

  • Document & record data collected on inspection forms legibly.

  • Keep work area safe and clean (5S – Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).

  • Promote quality workmanship that meets and/or exceeds customer expectations.

  • Perform other duties as directed by the Team Leader.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Expertise in Measurement Science : Understand and apply metrology principles to accurately assess measurement uncertainty across various domains (e.g., mechanical, optical, dimensional), ensuring precision in quality checks.

  • Proficiency in Quality Process Management : Use quality tools like FMEA, SPC, and capability studies to monitor and improve product and process quality, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

  • Appreciation for Diverse Perspectives : Embrace and leverage different viewpoints and cultural backgrounds to enhance problem-solving and innovation within quality assurance processes.

  • Laboratory and Technical Oversight : Manage both the technical and operational aspects of a lab environment, ensuring adherence to certifications and maintaining high standards in testing and measurement.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

  • Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.
