HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Quality Technician (Prototype Manufacturing) to manage the critical flow and inspection of precision parts, raw materials, and tooling within a fast-paced prototyping machine shop.
In this role, you’ll bridge quality assurance and shop logistics, ensuring tight-tolerance machined components, raw materials, and parts undergoing secondary processing are thoroughly inspected, accurately tracked, and safely packaged for rapid delivery. You’ll support the movement of materials throughout the shop while maintaining quality, traceability, and documentation standards.
The ideal candidate thrives in a high-mix, low-volume job shop environment where speed, precision, and meticulous quality control are equally important. You’re comfortable inspecting machined components, working with precision measurement tools, maintaining accurate material records, and coordinating parts through multiple stages of production.
As a Quality Technician (Prototype Manufacturing), You'll
- Inspect incoming raw stock, off-standard materials, and custom tooling for dimensional accuracy, material certifications, and defects before release to the shop floor.
- Perform incoming inspections on parts returning from secondary processing, including anodizing, passivation, heat treatment, powder coating, and plating.
- Conduct final visual and dimensional inspections of finished prototype parts using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, and related equipment.
- Route and track parts between machining, deburring, internal quality inspection, and outside processing vendors while maintaining organized holding and quarantine areas.
- Package fragile, tight-tolerance prototype parts using appropriate non-marring methods and prepare shipping documentation, including certificates of conformance, packing slips, material certifications, and export or customs documentation when required.
- Identify, document, and isolate non-conforming materials or out-of-specification parts, initiate NCRs, and collaborate with machinists and quality engineers to resolve issues.
- Maintain lot control, heat number traceability, job order tracking, and real-time job status updates within ERP/MRP systems.
- Receive incoming orders, assist with physical stock audits, and maintain inventory of shipping and packaging materials.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to operate shop handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead hoists
