Job summary

The Arkema Group is seeking a Quality Control Laboratory Technician at the Bostik Ringwood, IL plant to analyze incoming raw materials, production batches and outgoing shipments for quality compliance.

You will calibrate equipment, perform routine housekeeping, manage lab inventories, and enter data into SAP. A High School Diploma and basic Office skills are required; SAP experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • A basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Cover shifts for vacation coverage.
  • Calibrate verifications daily/weekly/monthly as scheduled.
  • Perform daily and weekly housekeeping in the lab.
  • Assist in quality activities including new product setup, audits, and inquiries.
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies and chemicals.
  • Refill lab solutions and dispose of lab waste properly.
  • Restock lab supplies and notify the Quality Manager of needs.
  • Enter completed batch test results into SAP.
  • Review batch records and release finished goods.
  • Test raw materials per work instruction and enter results into SAP.
  • Notify Quality Manager and R&D for approval of non-conforming materials.
  • Perform in-process and finished goods testing per instruction.
  • Input completed results into SAP.

Job description

Quality Control Lab (Pay range $24 - $28.80/hour, with a 4% annual bonus potential)

This position is for a Quality Control Laboratory Technician at the Bostik Ringwood, IL adhesive manufacturing plant. As a QC lab technician, you will support operations by analyzing and ensuring incoming raw materials, production batches, and outgoing shipments follow standard quality procedures and meet quality specifications in a timely manner.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
General Duties:

*Maintain compliance with all health, safety and environmental procedures and guidelines.

*Be open to covering off shifts sometimes to help with vacation coverage.

*Perform daily/weekly/monthly calibration verifications as per the schedule.

*Perform daily and weekly housekeeping assignments.

*Perform and assist in miscellaneous quality activities including new product set up, customer information requests, training, audits, customer complaints and process improvement activities.

*Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, raw materials for laboratory batches and laboratory chemicals.

*Refill all lab solutions and solvents, as needed.

*Proper handling, maintenance and disposal of sample retains, per applicable work instructions.

*Restock lab supplies as needed. Check lab inventories and notify the Quality Manager of needs.

*Proper disposal of laboratory waste as needed.

*Maintain required laboratory housekeeping standards.

*Safe work practices; proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

*Special projects as designated by Quality Leader and other job duties, as assigned.

*Send out Requests for Approval of Non-conforming materials in a timely manner and preparing of proper paperwork.

For incoming Raw Materials:

*Conduct raw material testing per the associated work instruction and enter all results into SAP

*Notify the Quality Managerr, designated R&D Scientist and Run Plant engineers for approval or material disposition of materials not meeting specification.

For Manufactured Products:

*Conduct In process and finished goods testing per the associated work instruction

*Review batch records and perform final product release.

*Run all tests according to specified test methods to ensure that produced material meets the requirements before disposition.

*Make recommendations to production to adjust the material into specification when required.

*Input completed batch test results into SAP.

Education and Experience Requirements:

*High School Diploma, or equivalent, with related experience

* A basic understanding and ability to perform simple tasks in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel

Preferred Education and Experience Requirements:

*Experience working in an industrial setting, especially those handling hazardous materials

*Experience with SAP software or other formula and quality management software

*Experience working with ISO quality management system

*Experience working with safe practices

*GMP

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished inwritten, oral, or diagram form. Must deal with problems involving several concrete variables in mostly standardized situations and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and hazardous chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

There will be limited exposure to chemicals, including but not limited to solvents and isocyanates.
