Job summary

Hayward Holdings Inc. seeks a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to ensure product quality from receiving through final assembly. You will conduct thorough visual and dimensional inspections and perform First Article Inspections on new and revised parts.

You will audit suppliers, generate nonconforming reports, and enter data into databases to monitor performance. SPC tools will be used to drive process improvements and safeguard safety and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

  • QA inspection in manufacturing from receiving to final assembly.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in data entry, SPC and capability analysis to drive process improvements.
  • Ability to train or mentor teammates in QA tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with operators, supervisors and engineering to determine/enforce quality standards.
  • Performs detailed visual and dimensional inspection of supplier materials/components.
  • Performs First Article Inspections on supplier and internal parts or revision changes.
  • Audits of new or existing suppliers using gauges and other measuring devices.
  • Generates nonconforming Material Report when items deviate from standards and communicates findings to management and suppliers.
  • Enters data, part history and supplier performance into databases; analyzes test data with spreadsheets.
  • Applies SPC/capability analysis to evaluate processes and recommend improvements.
  • Recommends modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality.
  • Inspects First Piece setup in fabrication area; maintains QA area with housekeeping and safety.

Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island, Georgia, as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China.Responsibilities:Collaborates with operators, supervisors and/or engineering representatives to determine/enforce quality standards.Performs detailed visual and dimensional inspection of supplier materials/components.Performs First Article Inspections on supplier and/or internal new parts or revision changes.Audits of new or existing suppliers using a wide variety of gauges tools and other measuring devices.Generates nonconforming Material Report when items are found which deviate from established Engineering and/or QA standards. As appropriate, reports are distributed to management and suppliers.Enters data, part history, supplier performance, in-house efficiency defect rates, failure mode etc. into computer database. Evaluates test data using standard spreadsheets or other applications software.Use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and capability analysis to properly evaluate processes and make recommendations to improve or eliminate variables adversely affecting those processes.Recommends modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality. Performs inspection of First Piece set-up in fabrication area.Must have the knowledge and experience to perform QA inspection in all areas of manufacturing from receiving to fabrication to final assembly.Maintains QA area with good housekeeping practices and safety policies/regulations.Assures unacceptable material and rework is dispositioned according to procedures.Has knowledge of basic brazing concepts.Certification of operating/programming CMM and/or Roamer Arm or trained and proficient at performing QA gas testing of units.Able to train or mentor other team members to perform Quality Technician tasks.Qualifications:Analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skillsAbility to read technical drawingsExcellent teamwork and interpersonal communication skillsKeen attention to detailExperience using mathematical conceptsAbility to define problems verbally and in writingExperience analyzing data and drawing valid conclusionsEducation:High School diploma or GED required, Associate's Degree preferredExperience:2-5 years direct QA experience in a manufacturing environmentWork Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and works in areas with flammable materials. The noise level in the work environment can range from moderate to noisy. Required safety PPE (personal protective equipment) includes but is not limited to hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes.
