Job summary

Fenner PLC seeks a Quality Assurance Technician II to conduct inspections and ensure conformance of materials and products at our Lancaster, PA facility. You will follow established guidelines, perform audits, collect data for SPC and capability studies, interpret drawings, and help drive continuous improvement while maintaining a safe, organized 6S workplace.

You will train associates in quality principles, support PPAP deliverables, manage nonconforming material, and assist with calibration

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Exposure to ISO Quality System Requirements a plus

Responsibilities

  • Supports manufacturing by following work instructions (First Article, First Sleeve Inspections, gauge set-ups, control of nonconforming material)
  • Provides training in quality principles to associates inside and outside the department
  • Ensures acceptability of incoming materials, in-process and outgoing products via inspections and audits
  • Collects data for analytics including capability studies, SPC, sampling plans and other tools
  • Interprets drawings, specs, standards and customer requirements for conformance
  • Performs gauge R&R and gauge calibration data collection
  • Strives for continuous improvement of processes
  • Maintains a clean, organized 6S workplace
  • Adapts schedule to changing priorities while ensuring safety
  • Disposes of nonconforming material and initiates corrective actions
  • Delivers quality data, PPAP reports, and related documents to customers
  • Supports calibration or Quality Management System activities
  • Cross-trains to inspect multiple product groups
  • Demonstrates QA Tech II capabilities and supports process improvements
  • Develops procedures for new product testing as required
  • Runs WR/WE with documentation under Quality Manager guidance
  • Exhibits empowerment and ownership in performance and decision making
  • Supports new process setup and advanced troubleshooting of quality concerns

Job description

Basic Scope/Purpose

(The job’s primary purpose or contribution to the department or organization.)

Conducts inspection of incoming materials, in-process and final inspections in accordance with established guidelines.

This is an on-site position located at our facility in Lancaster, PA. Relocation assistance is not available.

The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday; 7:00am-3:30pm.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Supports the manufacturing operations by performing tasks in accordance with established and documented work instructions (i.e., First Article, First Sleeve Inspections, gauge set-ups, control of nonconforming material, etc.).
  • Provides training and guidance in quality principles to associates both within and outside of the department.
  • Ensures the acceptability of incoming materials, in-process and outgoing products by performing the specified inspections and audits.
  • Collects data for to support analytical methods including capability studies, statistical process control, sampling plans and other statistical tools.
  • Correctly interprets drawings, specifications, established standards (visual and dimensional), and other customer requirements and applies these to the product conformance determination process.
  • Collects data for gage R&R's and gage calibrations in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Strive for continuous improvement of the Company’s processes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work place using the “6S” system.
  • Embrace change in the work environment to maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Adjust schedule to fluctuate work priorities as needed.
  • Considers the safety of self and others while performing job responsibilities. Understands Supervisor must be notified of unsafe conditions.

  • Develops and maintains process to train new Quality Assurance Technicians and new Operators consistently.
  • As new products or product requirements arise and new testing is required, develops procedures for performing this product testing.
  • Responsible for disposition of all nonconforming material (returns and internal rejects), determines root cause for issues and oversees/implements necessary corrective actions.
  • Provides customers with quality data, PPAP reports, and other quality documentation related to their products, as requested.
  • Supports management of calibration or Quality Management System.
  • As applicable, cross trained to inspect multiple product groups.
  • Demonstrates and is able to maintain effectiveness in all job duties assigned at the QA Tech II level.
  • May make recommendation for improving processes.
  • Assists with setting up new processes.
  • Advanced troubleshooting quality concerns.
  • Runs WR and/or WE run, with appropriate level of documentations under the guidance of Quality Manager.
  • Demonstrates empowerment values in performance, accountability, entrepreneurial spirit, ownership, leadership, and decision making.

Education and/or Relative Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree(GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exposure to ISO Quality System Requirements a plus.

  • Reinforce safety margins through active participation in incident investigations, corrective actions managed shift changes, toolbox talks, pre-tasking, STOP WORK, and task scrolling.
