Job summary

Tarkett is seeking a Quality Technician I to support the Chagrin Falls plant. You will maintain core quality processes, manage calibration and documentation, assist with color analysis, and support claims through problem solving and corrective actions while upholding workplace safety.

You will work cross-functionally to ensure color standards, inspection records, and procedures are followed, perform process audits, and drive continuous improvement in a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • High-school diploma; technical or associate degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in quality, laboratory or process control.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; self-directed and dependable.
  • Must pass a color-vision test and safely lift up-to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Preferred experience in color-related industries such as coatings, plastics, or rubber.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 or equivalent quality management systems, internal and process auditing.
  • Exposure to root-cause analysis or corrective-action tools (5-Why, 8D, etc.)
  • Experience coordinating with production, lab, and quality.
  • Formal continuous improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma experience.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and promote safe work practices in all quality and production activities.
  • Provide day-to-day support to production to ensure that color standards, inspection records, and operating procedures are accurate.
  • Conduct process audits to verify compliance with documented work instructions and quality requirements.
  • Perform and review color measurements, trend and analyze data, and work cross-functionally on color shifts, tolerancing and new product development.
  • Maintain the plant’s calibration program, including scheduling, recordkeeping, and verification of instruments such as spectrophotometers and other gauges.
  • Track and report calibration status, and communicate gauge and calibration needs to shop-floor operators and supervisors.
  • Process, collect and organize claim data, assist with RCA and ensure records are complete.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify or strengthen quality processes and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Ensure documentation is current, accurate and maintained in accordance with record keeping requirements.

Location: Chagrin Falls (may occasionally support quality activities at other Ohio campus sites as needed)

Position Summary The Quality Technician I supports the Chagrin Falls plant by maintaining core quality processes and ensuring that measurement, color, and claims operate reliably and efficiently. This role provides hands‑on process support, manages calibration and documentation activities, assists with color analysis and supports claims through effective problem solving and corrective actions, while maintaining a strong focus on workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate and promote safe work practices in all quality and production activities.
  • Support Tarkett safety requirements by being attentive to hazards, proper PPE use, and safe handling of materials and equipment.
  • Provide day‑to‑day support to production to ensure that color standards, inspection records, and operating procedures are accurate and followed.
  • Conduct process audits to verify compliance with documented work instructions and quality requirements.
  • Perform and review color measurements, trend and analyze data, and work cross‑functionally on color shifts, tolerancing and new product development.
