Kautex, a Textron company, is hiring a Quality Technician for 3rd shift in Detroit, MI. You will oversee measurement tasks to assure product quality during development and serial production.

You will stop processes on non-conformities, perform tactile and optical measurements, and help with sampling and first part inspection. The role emphasizes measurement improvement and 6S discipline.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in plastic and automotive supplier industries.
  • Experience with CMM, Microtome, and optical measurement equipment.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and reading drawings; CAD basics a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; English language skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Measure with tactile CMM and optical devices to ensure quality.
  • Set up and analyze measurement reports; preserve data properly.
  • Support sampling and first part inspection in production.
  • Improve measurement processes; maintain 6S in quality areas.
  • Perform tests (Drop, Burst) and assist lab when needed.

What awaits you:
  • Responsible for all measurement tasks to assure product quality during the development phase and serial production
  • Responsible to stop processes and escape in all cases of non-conformities to quality (STOP-AT-DEFECT)
  • Tactile measurements with CMM
  • Optical measurements with Microtomes optical device
  • Set up and analyze reports and storage and preservation of them
  • Support sampling process
  • Support first part inspection in serial production
  • Improve measurement processes
  • Responsible to maintain 6s in all quality areas all time
  • Reasonable to ensure set up in the production process keep the quality in the product
  • Responsible to perform Drop, Burst, and all testing agreed with customer to ensure mechanical strength of the product.
  • Responsible to support Quality supervisor in the needs of the Laboratory
What you'll need to succeed:
  • Technical apprenticeship with advanced training preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in plastic and automotive supplier industry is required
  • Knowledge in measurement devices, CMM, Microtome machine, Microscopes. GD&T and RPS alignment and drawing is a plus
  • Basic knowledge in CAD is a plus
  • Knowledge in customer specific quality requirements is a plus
  • Knowledge of product and measuring test equipment and techniques
  • Knowledge of plastics manufacturing processes
  • Able to perform a Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
  • Green Belt certification is a plus
  • Microsoft office skills required (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
