Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Quality Inspector to support Operations, Manufacturing and Procurement, improving throughput and minimizing disruptions. You will perform first piece, receiving, roaming and final inspections, generate conformance documentation, and report on quality metrics.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in manufacturing, strong reading of drawings, and solid organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• First Piece Inspection of required product with 100% validation for conformance.
• Complete Receiving Inspection validating dimensions, paperwork, expirations, and conformance.
• Roaming Inspection to verify operator inspections and accuracy.
• Final Inspection on batches for conformance via 100% or sampling plan.
• Generate documentation packages for outgoing product (CoC, Raw Material, etc.).
• Daily/Weekly reporting on quality metrics (rejections).
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Procurement to address nonconforming material.
• Nonconformance Reporting with details for MRB disposition.
• Manage disposition of nonconforming material with suppliers and customers.
• Assist in root cause investigations and continuous improvement.
• Maintain and organize company documents with proper control.
• Update documents to maintain accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Quality Manager and leadership.

SUMMARY

The Quality Inspector role is responsible for providing support and collaborating with Operations, Manufacturing, and Procurement to accomplish the overall quality-related objectives, to minimize product disruptions and improve the throughput of processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• First Piece Inspection of any required product which includes 100% validation of the operational step to ensure conformance to the flowdown requirements
• Completing Receiving Inspection which may include verifying dimensional, paperwork, expirations, and other critical information for product conformance
• Roaming Inspection to ensure operator inspections are being completed and to provide oversight on the accuracies of the performed inspections
• Final Inspection to ensure that batch/lot of completed products through the relevant stage is conforming on either a 100% inspection or sampling plan
• Generating documentation packages related to outgoing customer product which may include Certification of Conformance, Raw Material, COTS, and External Processing
• Daily / Weekly Reporting on relevant quality metrics (i.e. rejections)
• Collaborate with necessary functions such as Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Procurement, etc. to effectively communicate nonconforming material issues and coordinate necessary actions, until closure
• Nonconformance Reporting with specific details in relation to the origin, scope of the issue, potential containment, and probably root cause to effectively setup the MRB to finalize their investigation & provide disposition on affected product
• Manages the identification, processing, and disposition of nonconforming material for internal and external issues, including supplier’s nonconformances and customer returns
• Assist in the investigation of root causes of nonconformities, support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce or prevent the risk of future recurrences
• Manages, organizes, and ensures the accuracy of company documents. Including storing them electronically and physically, categorizing them systematically, and maintaining their accessibility by following established document control protocols
• Maintains awareness on different document versions and updates them for maintaining accuracy
• Other duties as assigned by Quality Manager & other senior leadership

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 2 years of related manufacturing experience
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• MS Office Products including Word & Excel
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, specifications, and requirements
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communicator capable of working through complex issues with peers, management, and multiple functions is required to ensure nonconformance reports are created accordingly

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
• Ability to frequently use hands and fingers to operate machine controls, tools, and measuring instruments.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and components weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required to load, unload, and inspect parts and equipment.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the hands, wrists, and arms.

• Ability to safely operate equipment in a fast-paced production setting while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and other equipment as required.
• Ability to work in an environment with exposure to machine noise, metal chips, cutting fluids, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
• Ability to maintain regular attendance and work scheduled shifts, including overtime as required.

Work Environment

• Noise level on the manufacturing floor is moderate, so hearing protection may be required in designated areas. The employee is required to wear safety glasses and safety shoes
