Job summary

Brook & Whittle in Hamilton, OH is seeking a Quality Technician to inspect labels and ensure color accuracy and conformance to specs. The role includes daily shifts, process audits, and collaboration with QA to maintain quality across production.

You will measure products, review customer issues, and help update SWIs while supporting quick decision-making and documentation accuracy.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; printing experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in printing and in a quality role.
  • Good color vision and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong reading and comprehension of simple instructions and memos.
  • Proficient with MS Office including Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect products prior to finishing or shipping and during production.
  • Perform process/SWI audits and assist in updating SWIs.
  • Review customer complaints as needed and provide feedback to QA.
  • Inspect and manage returned materials and documentation.
  • Measure products using rulers and measuring tools to specifications.
  • Verify documentation and escalate issues to QA Manager.
  • Accept or reject finished items and segregate rejected ones.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and broader QA activities.
  • Cover other duties as assigned by QA Manager.

1st Shift: Tuesday through Friday: 4:55am-3:05pm

2nd Shift: Mondays: 4:55pm-1:30am and Tuesdays through Thursdays: 2:55pm-1:30am

Weekend Shift: Saturday through Monday 5:00am-5:00pm

The Quality Technician will examine products for defects or deviations from specifications. Members of this team will evaluate, assess and re-evaluate company-wide processes that affect individual label quality to ensure we exceed customer expectations.

Pay And Benefits

Pay: $17.00-$24.00/hour

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Inspection of product prior to secondary finishing or shipping as well as in process product.
  • Performance of process/SWI audits.
  • Assist in the creation and/or updating of processes/SWIs.
  • Assist in review of customer complaints as needed.
  • Check in and inspect Return Materials.
  • Measure products with rulers, micrometers, spectrophotometer, loupes, etc. to ensure conformance with order specifications.
  • Verification of required documentation, reporting any failures to Quality Manager.
  • Accepts or rejects finished items.
  • Segregate and manage of any rejected items to remove from workflow and prevent shipment.
  • Provide feedback of all findings to Quality Manager.
  • Any other duties assigned by Quality Manager.
Requirements
  • Keen eye for color – ability to distinguish between minimal color variances.
  • A heighten focus for detail is essential.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to read, interpret and create simple correspondence and memos.
  • Moderate work experience using a computer including data entry and Microsoft office programs including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read a ruler.
  • Ability to manage multiple, on-going, and high priority assignments at the same time.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Work flexibility – willingness to cover other team members during vacation/other time off as needed, willingness to work OT as needed
Education And Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent. May include specialized classes beyond high school.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in printing preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a quality role.
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
  • Frequent exposure to manufacturing environment with one or more unpleasant or hazardous conditions including but not limited to exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals, etc.. 51% to 80% of work time
  • Incumbent constantly required to hear, speak, articulate and use manual dexterity.
  • Incumbent regularly required to stand, walk, use color vision, grasp, reach and sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Incumbent occasionally required to lift up to 50 lbs.
