Job description

Job Purpose

The Quality Technician ensures the quality of products and processes by conducting incoming part inspections, running production part and process checks, confirming the integrity of quality documentation, and managing test equipment calibrations. This is a hands-on, multifaceted role in a fast-paced environment, where flexibility and adaptability are key.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Incoming Parts Inspections:
    • Perform inspections of incoming materials and components to ensure they meet company specifications and quality standards.
    • Ensure that required documentation from suppliers is provided and accurate.
    • Support First Article Inspections by conducting inspections and documentation checks.
  2. Production Process Inspections:
    • Monitor and inspect production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards.
    • Perform product checks on in-house production parts.
    • Identify any deviations and support implementation of corrective actions.
    • Audit the production documentation to ensure that requirements are met.
  3. Inspection Planning:
    • Assist the development of inspection plans and quality control processes to define acceptance and rejection criteria for both vendor-supplied and in-house production parts.
  4. Test Equipment Management:
    • Maintain and manage test equipment, ensuring it is calibrated, validated, and in proper working order at all times.
  5. Continuous Improvement:
    • Work closely with the production and engineering teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and quality enhancements.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality standards are met across the entire production cycle.
  6. Additional duties as assigned, needed, or required for the business.
Qualifications

Qualifications include:
  • Education, Experience, and Certifications:
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience in highly technical manufacturing industries (e.g., aerospace, advanced engineered products).
    • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification preferred.
    • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong knowledge of quality control methodologies, including inspections, testing, and calibration of measurement tools.
    • Advanced knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) conformance measuring methods and verification techniques.
    • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong ability to identify defects or deviations from specifications.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with suppliers and internal teams.
    • Familiarity with using quality management tools and software.
    • Willingness to travel, approximately 25%.
Role Classification and Working Conditions

This is an hourly, non-exempt-level position. The role typically involves work in an office environment, as well as exposure to operations, warehouses, and production environments.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel as needed, approximately 25%.
