Job summary

Gorbel® is seeking a Quality Technician to ensure that incoming materials, work in process, and final assemblies meet Gorbel® quality specifications. You will inspect, test, document results, and coordinate with other departments to resolve quality issues.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, applying GD&T, basic welding knowledge, and strong communication skills. Candidates should have at least four years of manufacturing experience and be computer literate in Office and Excel.

Qualifications

• Ability to travel to Gorbel sites (<10%).

Job Overview

The Quality Technician role ensures the quality of products received and processed in the facility meets or exceeds Gorbel® quality and specifications. The position involves inspection of incoming materials, work in process, and final assemblies, documentation of results, and coordination with other departments to resolve quality issues.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test incoming material, work in process, and final assemblies following defined procedures.
• Document inspection results in computer or paper-based records.
• Participate in the review of new measurement techniques and learn to apply them.
• Process material transactions: move accepted parts into inventory, quarantine unacceptable parts, and update computer records.
• Follow non‑conformance procedures to identify, communicate, and quarantine material.
• Provide input to the Material Review Board for proper disposition of material.
• Update computer records needed for analysis.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with Gorbel® specifications.
• Interface with other departments to resolve issues.
• Drive action for non‑conforming issues, scrap, and rework with appropriate owners.
• Maintain records of inspections and prepare defect lists for analysis.
• Develop and participate in defining quality standards where needed (e.g., visual standards for weld and paint, functional tests for electrical or mechanical systems).
• Complete weld destructive and non‑destructive tests as defined; help develop tests and documentation.
• Complete functional testing to check fit for use or audit results to ensure continued compliance.
• Communicate inspection results and inventory issues with required individuals.
• Maintain testing equipment and calibrate it per defined frequency.
• Participate and contribute in problem‑solving and continuous improvement teams.
• Assist other departments as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least four years of manufacturing experience.
• Mechanical ability.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of inspection tools, measuring devices, and GD&T methods.
• Knowledge of basic welding.
• Ability to inspect and test welds (plus).
• Knowledge of or ability to learn problem‑solving methods and tools.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office and Excel; ability to create basic graphs and perform data analysis desired.
• Ability to travel to other Gorbel sites (<10%).

Preferred Skills

• AAS degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance.
• Knowledge of paint and associated processes.
• Ability to inspect and analyze related problems.
• Knowledge of electrical and electro‑mechanical system functioning.
• Ability to understand functional tests and analyze related problems.

Compensation

The wage range for this role is: Quality Technician – Min $19.74 to Max $29.62; Quality Technician, Sr – Min $21.42 to Max $32.14.
