Job summary

Carterra seeks a Quality Technician to support testing and release of products, including fluidic subassemblies and reagents, using complex test equipment and GMP procedures.

Under supervision, you will collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams, read technical docs, and handle hazardous materials with appropriate PPE. Associates degree in a scientific field is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Associates degree in biology, chemistry, engineering or related field preferred.
  • Experience with ISO9001 or QMS preferred.
  • Experience with chemical or biological reagents preferred.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming parts using calipers, micrometers, and similar measurement tools.
  • Inspect manufactured parts per work instructions, often using proprietary tools, instruments, or fixtures.
  • Document test results per GMP requirements.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and other departments to support production goals.
  • Read and interpret technical documents, including safety data sheets, prints, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Safely handle and dispose of hazardous chemicals with PPE.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including general labor activities as needed.

Job description

The Carterra name is based on two core concepts: Cartography (mapping) and terra (worlds); literally meaning "mapping worlds." This represents the Company's high-speed, high-resolution label-free biosensor technologies, which are being used by leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to thoroughly explore new worlds in biotherapeutic drug discovery that were previously impossible to investigate. This technology will allow researchers to make well-informed decisions early in the drug discovery process where risks and costs can be significantly mitigated.

JOB SUMMARY

Under direction of their manager, the Quality Technician is responsible for the testing and release of multiple products, including fluidic subassemblies, reagents and solutions, chemical coatings and machined components. This is accomplished through the use of complex, proprietary test equipment and standard measurement techniques. The position will also support a variety of activities necessary to support Manufacturing, Engineering, and scientists teams.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Inspect incoming parts from suppliers using calipers, micrometers, and similar measurement tools and techniques.
  • Inspect manufactured parts in accordance with work instructions, often using proprietary tools, instruments, or fixtures.
  • Follows standard operating procedures and accurately document test results in accordance with applicable GMP requirements.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and other departments to support production goals.
  • Read and interpret technical documents, including safety data sheets, prints, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Safely handle and dispose of hazardous chemicals in accordance with applicable procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including general labor activities as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, accuracy, and maintaining established quality standards.
  • Ability to set up and conduct chemical experiments and tests using our instruments and standard laboratory techniques.
  • Ability to prepare chemical solutions for QC tests.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, equipment, and processes quickly.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with the ability to independently maintain required testing records and metrics.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and aptitude for working with analytical equipment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1-3 years of experience in Inspection, quality control, or related quality function preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience using complex analytical equipment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001 or similar Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Experience working with chemical or biological reagents preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage assigned priorities, and complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working in a smaller technology company and adapting to situations where processes or solutions may not always be clearly defined.
EDUCATION
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Associates degree in biology, chemistry, engineering or another scientific discipline, or equivalent experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to perform job duties requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting.
  • Ability to wear required laboratory and manufacturing PPE.
