Job summary

Boyd Thermal Solutions Inc. is seeking an entry-level Quality Technician I to perform inspection tasks on our production floor. You will operate manual and CNC CMMs and setup Optical Comparators while using calipers, height gauges, and other gauges to complete inspection reports.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to read technical documents are required. A high school diploma is the minimum education; Excel and MCOSMOS software knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• A college technical degree is helpful but not required.
• Experience in inspection or calibration is beneficial.
• Proficiency with MS Excel and MCOSMOS software is expected.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual and CNC coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
• Set up and run Optical Comparators on the production floor.
• Use inspection tools such as height gauges, calipers, and gauges.
• Complete inspection reports and related paperwork.
• Set an example by following procedures, rules, and cleanliness.

Job DescriptionSUMMARYQuality Technician I are entry-level technicians who are able to perform some complex manual inspection tasks as well as operating more sophisticated equipment such as manual CMMs, CNC CMMs, and optical comparators.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Operation of manual and CNC CMMs. Setup and operation of Optical Comparators. Use of inspection tools, including, but not limited to: height gauges, calipers, pin gauges, thread gauges, and countersink gauges. Completion of inspection reports and other required paperwork. Acting as an example to the rest of the plant on use of procedures, following rules and policies, and cleanliness.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNone.QUALIFICATIONSEducation and ExperienceA college degree in a technical field is helpful but not required. High school diploma is the minimum education level for this position. Experience in inspection or calibration is helpful. Attention to detail, organization, and a high degree of work ethics are essential.Language SkillsThis position requires the ability to read and interpret technical and legal documents, including contracts, design drawings, and specifications.Software/Analytical SkillsProficiency with MS Excel and the ability to learn and operate proficiently in less common software packages is essential. Common software for this position will include MCOSMOS.Reasoning AbilityThe ability to make decisions based upon incomplete data is important in this position.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe employee should be able to move items up to 50 lbs. Employee will be required to pass an annual eye examination.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment for this position is on our production floor, which includes both areas of climate control and areas that are less controlled.
