Job summary

Allient Inc. is seeking a Quality Technician to join our Oshkosh, Wisconsin team. The role involves inspecting raw materials and work-in-process, auditing finished goods, and releasing batches for packing in compliance with procedures and specifications.

The incumbent will maintain inspection records, support material receipts, coordinate with QA, Engineering, and Manufacturing, and help track non-conforming items and customer complaints.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in quality inspection or related field.
  • Familiar with quality methods and manufacturing practices.
  • Equivalent to high school diploma plus practical background with some college.

Job description

Allient Inc. is currently seeking a Quality Technician to join our team at our manufacturing facility in Oshkosh, Wisconsin!

The Quality Technician will perform diversified duties to inspect raw material and work-in-process. This individual will audit finished products to accept or reject and release for packing and shipment to customers, in compliance with documented procedures and in accordance with Engineering and customer specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and test for dimensional, appearance, and performance quality of product, determine applicable disposition of non-conforming material and customer returns, identify and tag rejections, and document all factors of the final audit/inspection process in accordance with established practices and procedures.
  • Maintain various applicable electronic or hard copy records as evidence of task completion or status.
  • Receive direction from Quality Manager and work from Quality Assurance and Product Engineering specifications, drawings, purchasing, make orders, and instructions to perform inspection and test operations on vendor-produced components and units.
  • Receive and physically inspect returned goods. Request work orders, identify and distribute the returned goods to applicable departments such as Manufacturing, Engineering, or Lab for evaluation and to define the disposition (repair, replace, scrap, or return to stock). Coordinate that the defined actions are completed based on the defined disposition. Maintain applicable records and reports.
  • Compile metrics as required and maintain documents with particular attention to daily product rework/scrap data, non-conforming material, and customer complaints.
  • Confer with the Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Lab personnel on matters concerned with raw material rejections, returned goods, specification deviations, vendor quality characteristics, customer complaints, returned goods, internal scrap, and rework, etc.
  • Perform a variety of duties primarily concerned with monitoring and reporting on Warehouse raw material inventory levels. Work from shop orders, bills-of-material, pick lists, and material requisitions to enter applicable data into the inventory control database and record receipts, issues, stock transfers, and shipments. Receive raw materials and purchased parts and assist the warehouse personnel in their receipt and distribution to production when needed.
  • Work with Warehouse Workers and Material Handlers to verify, identify, and locate inventoried items. Verify accuracy of disbursements and production returns by counting, weighing, measuring, etc. Participate in the taking of physical inventory as assigned.
  • Distribute planned preventive maintenance and calibration recall reports to all company facilities. Maintain electronic records.
  • Identify age-sensitive materials during incoming inspection per defined procedures. Initiate Lab Test Request forms for material that needs to be verified for potential extension of shelf life. Physically extend shelf life of the age-sensitive material or discard per defined procedures if the expiration date cannot be extended.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing practices and methods, quality methods and techniques.
  • Familiar with inspection tools.
  • Equivalent to high school diploma plus a broad practical background with specialized training comparable to a minimum of 2 years of college.
