Job Title: Quality Technician Job Description The Quality Technician plays a key role in ensuring that manufactured products consistently meet rigorous quality standards. This position performs a variety of chemical and physical property tests under supervision, audits manufacturing processes, inspects finished products, and partners closely with production teams to maintain high levels of quality and safety. The role offers clear growth opportunities into higher technician levels and lead roles within a modern, expanding facility.

Responsibilities

• Audit manufacturing processes to verify compliance with established quality procedures and standards.
• Perform chemical and physical property tests on asphalt under supervision, including softening point, penetration, flash point, viscosity, basic DSR, and filler percentage.
• Conduct tests on finished product, including back coating, granular adhesion, tears, seal thickness, shingle color, shingle dissection, and copper content.
• Carry out gradation analysis and copper content testing on granules and sand.
• Perform tests on fiberglass materials, including LOI, weight, tensile, and water/binder chemical analysis.
• Inspect finished products and collaborate with manufacturing personnel to ensure consistent adherence to quality specifications.
• Perform accurate data entry and documentation of test results and quality findings using multiple platforms such as SQC, Access, and Excel.
• Apply quality control and quality assurance principles to identify issues, support root cause analysis, and help implement corrective actions.
• Use visual inspection techniques to detect defects or deviations from product and process standards.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work areas.
• Promote a culture of safety by consistently following safety protocols and encouraging safe behaviors among colleagues.
• Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators when required, in accordance with safety guidelines.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience working in a laboratory setting.
• Hands-on experience with quality control and quality assurance processes in a technical or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to perform wet chemistry and chemical analysis under supervision.
• Experience conducting tests involving viscosity and tensile testing.
• Strong skills in inspection and visual inspection to identify defects and quality issues.
• Proficiency in performing quality checks on products and materials.
• Ability to accurately enter and manage data in systems such as SQC, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Excel.
• Understanding of basic laboratory safety practices and procedures.
• Ability to adhere to and promote health, safety, and environmental policies.
• Capability to properly use PPE, including respirators, and comply with fit requirements where applicable.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• AS or BS degree in a scientific or technical field is preferred.
• High school diploma or GED combined with previous technical or manufacturing experience is acceptable.
• in chemistry or related scientific disciplines is beneficial.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment is an advantage.
• Familiarity with quality control, quality assurance, and inspection methodologies.
• Comfort working with wet chemistry techniques and chemical analysis procedures.
• Ability to travel to other facilities for training as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized testing protocols.
• Effective communication skills to partner with manufacturing teams and share quality findings.
• Motivation to grow into higher technician levels and potential lead roles as opportunities arise.

Work Environment

This role is based in a new, actively growing manufacturing facility with modern equipment and expanding operations. Candidates must be willing to travel to other facilities for training until production begins, with travel primarily to Oklahoma City and Portland, and including approximately one week in California. The position follows a 1st shift schedule with 12-hour shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on a 2-2-3 rotation, providing a structured and predictable work pattern. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to safety protocols and proper use of PPE, including respirators when required. Employees who use respirators must maintain a clean-shaven face where the respirator seal meets the skin to ensure an effective fit. The facility promotes a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and professional development, supported by merit-based increases at 90 and 180 days and clear pathways for advancement into higher technician levels and lead positions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $64896.00 - $64896.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
