Atkore is seeking a Quality Technician in Hobart, IN to inspect parts and tooling, interpret drawings, and document quality history. The role reports to the Quality Manager and requires an AS degree with 3–5 years in manufacturing, plus experience with calipers, micrometers, gauges, and SPC.

The position is off-shift, nights with rotating weekends, and involves training new production staff in gauging techniques and quality processes.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Applied Science preferred.
3-5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing.
Ability to read/interpret blueprints and GD&T; proficient with precision measuring devices.

Responsibilities

Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Quality Technician to be based out of Hobart, IN. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this person will be responsible for performing product inspections using various types of measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges. This person will be responsible for preparing reports to document their findings. This position is for an off shift that will work nights and rotating weekends.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an associate degree in Applied Science with 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:

Interpret manufacturing drawings and specifications and apply procedures, specifications, and standards to ensure product compliance.
Prepare job information including documents, gauges, quality history, etc. for production teams prior to the start of job setups.
Monitor Statistical Process Controls on key characteristics as defined.
Perform inspection of manufactured parts, tooling, and fixtures to ensure final product conformance to customer specifications.
Initiate non-conformance reports and corrective actions.
Complete, inspect and distribute all quality records and documents.
Maintain job files for production run data, first piece approvals, maintenance logs, visual alerts, etc.
Calibrate gauging and maintain calibration records for gauges and other equipment.
Assist in the training of new production personnel in gauges, gauging techniques, equipment, Statistical Process Control, data collection, and quality policies and procedures.

What you'll bring:

Associates degree in Applied Science preferred
3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Proficient with a variety of precision measuring devices including calipers, micrometers, comparators, height gauges, and custom fixtures.
Ability to read/interpret blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning &Tolerancing.
Knowledge of key elements of Statistical Process Control and how to apply.
Basic math skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, and Power point).

Partner with Quality Manager to identify short- and long-term process improvement ideas.

Within 12 months, you'll:

Create, update, and share inspection documentation.
Have meaningful conversations with Operations team concerning quality issues in real time.
Lead Lean initiatives to drive process improvements.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $49,200 - $67,650. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
