Job summary

Adient in Michigan is seeking a Quality Lab Technician to perform physical property testing in the polyurethane quality lab and ensure data accuracy. You will follow customer test methods, monitor testing conditions, and maintain lab organization and inventories.

The role requires adherence to safety practices and involvement in audits and system improvements, with a shift from 10pm to 6:30am. Prior lab experience in a controlled environment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience following ISO 16949 & A2LA (ISO 17025) systems.
• Ability to read and interpret customer test method documents.

Summary

Checks, analyzes, and inspects the raw materials, work in process goods, and finished goods by following guidelines to ensure procedures and standards are met. Identifies issues, and recommends preventative and corrective action to mitigate future risk. Performs periodic audits to ensure the achievement of quality standards.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Read and understand all customer standardized test method documents.
• Perform physical property testing within corporate polyurethane quality lab according to the customer standardized documents.
• Maintain, control, and ensure accuracy of test data.
• Monitor and ensure testing is performed within Temperature and Humidity control.
• Update testing matrix daily to note completed testing.
• Maintain 5S and housekeeping in the lab area daily.
• Maintain sample and test fixture inventories.
• Follow all lab safety practices.
• Participate in ISO 16949 & A2LA (ISO 17025) system improvement activities, including but not limited to audits and Proficiency Testing.
• Participate in Gage R & R studies on lab equipment.
• Participate in equipment verification.
• Participate in Quality Planning meetings when required.
• Be a self‑starter; to complete all work orders in a timely manner.
• Abide by all EH&S requirements.
• Comply with company and departmental rules, policies and practices.
• Communicate with team members and supervision on all issues, concerns, updates, etc.
• Perform all roles & responsibilities as defined by the BOS policies & procedures.
• Perform other duties deemed necessary by the Quality Engineer/Manager or UTC Manager.

Must be able to work 3rd shift (10pm - 6:30am)
