Job summary

Georgia-Pacific in Jonestown, PA is seeking safety‑oriented individuals to join our team as a Quality Technician. This role involves inspecting samples, supporting continuous improvement, and working with Operations, R&D, and GP Leaders to ensure high‑quality products.

You will rotate 12‑hour Dupont schedule (6:45am–7pm and 6:45pm–7am) with days off between rotations. Salary is $25.00 per hour plus a $1.00 shift differential and up to a 6% quarterly bonus through Performance Pay.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing, agricultural, warehouse OR military environment or completion of post high school education in manufacturing/industrial.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally with team members, management, and other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Verify that materials are in SPEC for all jobs based on envelope format and instructions from quality supervisor.
  • Perform and maintain department quality per SOPs.
  • Stay up to date on procedures related to quality inspections, spec limits and sampling frequency.
  • Monitor packaging for defects and report non-conformance to lead operator.
  • Print labels when placing materials on hold.
  • Check incoming raw materials prior to production and when runability concerns arise.
  • Assist with hand packing when Automation is down.
  • Maintain an open dialogue with supervision to minimize delays.
  • Update upcoming shift information to ensure accurate handoffs.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Monitor all jobs for manufacturing defects and report non-conformance.
  • Verify processes with internal audits.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Act as on-shift go-to person for quality items.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Complete required training on time.
  • Use Teams and other software to communicate with quality group.
  • Work overtime as necessary to cover absences or PTO.

Shift
  • This facility works a Dupont schedule (rotating 12-hour shifts). You will work both shifts on a rotating basis, which are 6:45am-7pm and 6:45pm-7am. There are days off between your night and day rotations.

Our Team

Quality Technicians help maintain constant quality during production by inspecting and measuring product samples and communicating the data to the broader team. The Quality Technicians enable quick responses to correct defects and/or process issues by effective communication and working alongside the Operations team, the R&D team, and GP Leaders. They will also be an integral part in verifying processes to aid in continuous improvement. The objective is that the Customer receives only high-quality product. These are developmental positions with growth potential in the facility as well as across Georgia-Pacific.

Georgia-Pacific’s Mailers is a part of the Packaging and Cellulose business, the Mailers business is expanding its product lines, working with key customers to create and launch one or more new products to complement our already thriving recyclable padded mailer business.

What You Will Do
  • Verifying that all materials are in SPEC for on all jobs based on the envelope format being produced and as instructed by the quality supervisor
  • Performing and maintaining department quality as required by standard operating procedures
  • Stay up to date on procedures related to quality inspections, specification limits and sampling frequency
  • Monitor packaging for defects outside of established specification limits, correct and report any non‑conformance issues to the lead operator
  • Printing labels when needed when placing materials on hold
  • Checking incoming raw materials prior to being ran in production as well as when concerns about run ability are raised
  • Assist with hand packing when Automation is down
  • Maintaining an open dialogue with supervision and other employees to minimize delays
  • Updating upcoming shift so information is passed on accurately
  • Maintaining a clean working environment
  • Monitor all jobs for manufacturing defects and report any non‑conformance issues
  • Comply and see that facility employees comply with ALL standard operational procedures relating to quality
  • Verify processes by performing internal audits
  • Perform other duties and / or projects as assigned
  • Act as the on shift go to person for quality related items
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Complete all required training within specified time frame
  • Use Teams and other computer based programs to communicate with other members of the quality group
  • Work overtime as necessary to cover absences or PTO
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience in a manufacturing, agricultural, warehouse OR military environment OR completion of post high school education in manufacturing/industrial
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally with team members, management, and other departments
  • This role works rotating 12 hour shifts, with a 7-day break in every 28-day period
What Will Put You Ahead
  • 1+ years experience operating production machinery
  • Experience performing quality checks according to standard operating procedures
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office
  • Experience working in a converting operation
  • Understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis techniques
  • Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and standards like ISO 9001
Other Considerations/Physical Requirements
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment
  • Perform tasks such as lifting up to 45lbs, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to/more than twelve (12) hours a day, in a loud/noisy, and industrial, high-volume environment

For this role, we anticipate paying $25.00 per hour.
