Job summary

Georgia-Pacific’s Mailers division in Jonestown, PA is seeking a safety-oriented Lead Machine Operator to supervise line teams on rotating 12-hour shifts. The role offers a base rate of $33.50/hour with a $1.00 shift differential between 7pm and 7am and a potential 6% quarterly bonus through the Performance Pay program.

You will oversee makeready, preventative maintenance, and quality checks while driving efficiency and waste reduction.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience operating production machinery.
  • Previous lead/leadership experience in a manufacturing, military, or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • This role works rotating 12 hour shifts, with a 7-day break in every 28-day period.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams on one or more lines with minimal supervision and provide direction to assistant machine operator, utility operator, and other team members to maintain safety, productivity, waste, housekeeping and quality standards.
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments; operate in line systems with minimal supervision including manual duties such as handpacking.
  • Perform makeready/changeover machine setups according to production schedules.
  • Assist in the completion of duties surrounding preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Consistently look for improvements and efficiencies to reduce waste and increase production within quality standards set.
  • Promote safety excellence by encouraging employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively recognize unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Ensure materials related to the job ticket are scanned into Plex and that scrap is recorded.
  • Perform required quality inspections and tests, while maintaining accurate records of results.
  • Maintain and clean machines and working area as needed.

Georgia-Pacific is looking for safety-oriented individuals to join our team as a Lead Machine Operator in Jonestown, PA!

  • $33.50 per hour
  • Shift differential is $1.00 per hour between the hours of 7pm and 7am
  • You will have the ability to increase your compensation based on skills and contribution to the overall performance of the plant.
  • This role is eligible for our Performance Pay program that could offer up to a 6% quarterly bonus.
Shift
  • This facility works a Dupont schedule (rotating 12-hour shifts). You will work both shifts on a rotating basis, which are 645am-7pm and 645pm-7am. There are days off between your night and day rotations.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure that all materials related to the job ticket are scanned into Plex when used and that scrap is recorded correctly once material has been consumed completely
  • Perform required quality inspections and tests, while maintaining accurate records of results
  • Maintain and clean machines and working area as needed
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • 2+ years experience operating production machinery
  • Previous lead/leadership experience in a manufacturing , military, or industrial environment
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
  • This role works rotating 12 hour shifts, with a 7-day break in every 28-day period
What Will Put You Ahead
  • 3+ years of experience as a paper setter, operator, tender, or printing process experience such as offset printing, digital printing, web printing, or corrugating or converting experience, including inspecting quality of printed materials for alignment, registration and print defects
  • 2+ years of experience working in a maintenance department
  • Experience with the make ready process to prepare equipment for a new job
  • Experience trouble shooting machine setup, adjusting machines and solutioning key issues safely
  • Experience using a computer, tablet, or smart device
Other Considerations/Physical Requirements
  • This role will perform tasks such as lifting up to 35lbs, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, sitting, pushing and/or pulling for up to 12 hours/day in a loud/noisy, and high-volume environment
  • This role will be on your feet for prolonged periods of time and lift 35lbs occasionally

For this role, we anticipate paying $33.50 per hour.
