Job summary

Flex-N-Gate is seeking a Quality Technician to perform quality inspections and support manufacturing by identifying quality concerns. The role ensures products are identified and packaged correctly and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, familiarity with automotive quality standards, and the ability to read technical documents. On-site work in Grand Rapids, MI offers comprehensive benefits and ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with automotive quality standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety alerts, control plans, work instructions, labels, and SDS.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality inspections within designated area.
  • Use precision gauges, calipers, and other tools to verify parts.
  • Conduct gauge inspections on parts and participate in the APQP/QA process.
  • Act as an internal auditor to ensure quality standards are followed.
  • Support problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate quality alerts to prevent excess scrap.

Summary

The primary responsibility of the Quality Technician is to perform quality inspections. The Quality Technician will ensure that products are properly identified and packaged and supports manufacturing by identifying quality concerns.

Job Duties
  • Responsible for performing quality inspections within designated area.
  • Utilizes tools such as precision gauges, calipers, height stress, Rockwell tools, gloss meters, dial indicators, etc.
  • Conducts gauge inspections on parts.
  • A part of the piece approval process.
  • Acts as an internal auditor for the plant to ensure that quality standards are followed across all work.
  • Participates and initiates problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Communicates quality alerts to the appropriate individual, ensuring that excess scrap is eliminated.
  • May be required to do on‑site sorting at customer locations.
  • Attends quality systems meetings, as necessary.
  • Follows ISO 14001 and TS 16949 requirements per standard.
  • Follows help chain, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned by supervisor or manager.

  • The incumbent is responsible for the awareness, understanding, specific responsibilities and management of the Environmental Management System (EMS) as stated in EMS Policy CEVPL.00005
  • The incumbent is responsible for the awareness, understanding, specific responsibilities and management of the Quality Management System (QMS) as stated in CQAM.00001 – Corporate Quality Manual.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred, but not required.
  • Understanding of automotive quality standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to read, interpret documents; safety alerts, control plans, work instructions, labels, Safety Data Sheets.
  • Required to push quality cart around plant to service internal customers/lines.
Working Conditions
  • Availability to work subject to manufacturing needs.
  • Exposed to manufacturing hazards.
  • Physically demanding (i.e., capacity to lift weights) up to 50 lb.
  • Use of PPE.
