Nucor Corporation in Frankfort, KY, is seeking a Quality Technician to conduct routine inspections across production, perform in-process and final checks, and verify product conformance to specs. You will use precision measuring tools, calibrate equipment, and generate accurate quality records while supporting corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and report FPY results to the Supervisor.
• Investigate quality issues and perform Root Cause Analysis.
• Conduct daily quality audits across production areas.
• Create and maintain accurate daily inspection reports.
• Inspect incoming, in-process, and finished products for conformance.
• Ensure products meet specifications and customer requirements.
• Report defects and nonconformances promptly.
• Suggest improvements to QC processes and methods.
• Document defects, corrective actions, and recurring issues.
• Train teammates on inspection practices and actions.
• Coordinate with Production for efficient inspections and testing.
• Maintain organized quality records per procedures.
• Support corrective and preventive actions and verify effectiveness.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Job Functions:

The Quality Technician is responsible for conducting routine quality inspections throughout the production process, including in-process and final product inspections, to ensure products meet established quality standards and specifications. This position utilizes a variety of precision measuring tools and inspection equipment to verify product dimensions, workmanship, and compliance with applicable requirements. The Quality Technician is also responsible for performing equipment calibrations, workstation audits, and quality checks, identifying discrepancies or nonconforming conditions, and supporting corrective actions to maintain consistent product quality.

Job Description

• Monitor and report daily First Pass Yield (FPY) results to the appropriate Supervisor.
• Investigate quality issues and perform and document Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify causes and corrective actions.
• Conduct daily quality audits across various production departments to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures.
• Develop, complete, and maintain accurate daily inspection reports and quality documentation.
• Inspect incoming, in-process, and finished products to verify compliance with established quality and safety standards.
• Ensure products meet company specifications, customer requirements, drawings, and applicable quality standards.
• Identify and promptly report quality defects, nonconformances, and other anomalies to the appropriate Supervisor.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality control processes, inspection methods, and overall product quality.
• Document quality defects, corrective actions, and recurring issues to support continuous improvement efforts.
• Train and provide guidance to teammates regarding identified quality issues, proper inspection practices, and corrective actions.
• Partner with Production to perform required inspections and testing efficiently while minimizing unnecessary disruptions to production.
• Maintain accurate and organized quality records in accordance with company procedures.
• Support corrective and preventive actions and follow up to verify effectiveness, as assigned.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong commitment to Safety and Quality in all aspects.
• Ability to use calipers, micrometers, height gage, etc.

• Demonstrated ability to work with others to get processes back within control.
• Ability to work under pressure in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Graduate/GED or combination of education and experience.
• High-level of visual awareness.
• Advanced organizational skills.
• Possess proficiency with MS Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Relevant Quality experience of 2–3 years.
