Job summary

CoWorx Staffing Services is seeking Quality Technicians for the East Providence, RI area. The role involves laboratory testing to determine chemical and physical characteristics of materials for quality control, with 12-hour shifts (4 days on, 4 off) and overtime as required.

Responsibilities include ensuring safety and compliance, conducting testing on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Quality testing/lab experience.
• Computer skills: Accounting Software, Inventory Software, MS Office.
• Hands-on experience with analytical equipment such as balances, mechanical test equipment, and chromatography is desirable.
• Basic knowledge of statistics and control charting desirable.

Responsibilities

• Quality Oversight & Compliance: ensure activities comply with Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements.
• Testing & Sample Management: conduct tests for raw materials, in-process materials and finished products; prepare solutions; record results.
• Equipment & Process Control: perform quality checks, operate and troubleshoot lab equipment; escalate calibration/repair needs.
• Data Entry & Documentation: maintain records in SQC Pack and electronic systems; ensure traceability.
• Workplace Standards: maintain housekeeping; work independently; collaborate with team.

CoWorx Staffing Services is seeking Quality Technicians in the East Providence, RI area. The quality control technician performs laboratory testing to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of materials for quality control and process control by performing the following duties:

• Effective written and verbal English communication skills required to understand detailed instructions.
• Must be able to work 12 hour shifts; 4 days on 4 days off; overtime is required.
• Must be able to work holidays; 24/7 plant 365 days/year

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality Oversight & Compliance

• Assures all job activities adhere to company Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements.
• Ensuring all samples processed through the QC lab are handled and tested safely, precisely, accurately, and efficiently.
• Submits written and verbal responses to out of control test results and escalates when appropriate.

Testing & Sample Management

• Conducts all various assigned testing procedures, including:
• incoming raw materials (e.g., batting inspections),
• in process materials (e.g., mechanical testing of blankets),
• finished products.
• Prepares chemical solutions and standards according to defined formulas.
• Records test results in spreadsheets and designated forms.

Equipment & Process Control

• Performs quality control checks on laboratory instruments and equipment and identifies mechanical issues.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment and troubleshoots malfunctions as needed.
• Escalates calibration and repair needs for instruments to the designated responsible individual.
• Monitors supply inventory and request additional supplies to ensure uninterrupted lab operations.

Data Entry & Documentation

• Maintains all testing records in SQC Pack and other specialized laboratory software.
• Accurately enters complete data records into the electronic data management system.
• Ensures proper documentation and traceability for all assigned work.

Workplace Standards

• Maintains good housekeeping standards in the laboratory and work environment.
• Works independently with minimal supervision while demonstrating strong self motivation.
• Cooperate with other personnel to support departmental and interdepartmental objectives and maintain positive employee relations.

Desired Background/Skills

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Quality testing/lab experience
• Computer skills required: Accounting Software; Inventory Software; Microsoft Office Suite;
• Hands on experience with analytical equipment such as balances, mechanical test equipment, and chromatography is desirable
• Basic knowledge of statistics and control charting desirable

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
• Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather)
• Continually works near moving mechanical parts
• Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions
• Occasionally exposed to extreme heat or cold (non-weather)

Other Information

$20-23 depending on experience with shift differential for night shift.
