Job summary

Ellwood Group Inc in Corry, PA, is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join the QA Department. The role performs nondestructive testing methods (UT, MT, PT, VT) and hardness testing, maintains calibration records, and prepares test reports for customer review.

Occasional travel to Irvine/Warren plants and subcontractors may be required. Overtime may be mandatory; shifts may be altered to support production. A high school diploma is required, with an Associate/Certificate in NDT preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate or Associate degree in Nondestructive Testing, Metallurgical Fields, or Quality Assurance.
• Prior NDT experience with UT/MT/PT/VT preferred.
• Experience with hardness testing and metallographic methods is desired.
• Familiarity with Ellwood National Forge products and basic MS Office/SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Prepare product for nondestructive testing and post-test cleaning.
• Perform Ultrasonic, Visual, Magnetic Particle, and Liquid Penetrant Testing.
• Perform Hardness testing and metallographic lab work.
• Conduct dimensional inspection including CMM methods.
• Prepare test reports for customer review.
• Maintain calibration records and material certification.
• Calibrate testing equipment as needed.
• Train others in NDT and dimensional inspection techniques.
• Assist customer auditors and travel to subcontractor or customer locations as required.
• Attend shifts as scheduled; overtime may be required.

Job description

There is an opening for a Quality Assurance Technician (s) working in the Quality Assurance Department based in Corry, however from time to time may be assigned to the Irvine/Warren plants. This position is non-exempt salary (overtime for over 40 hours/week). The starting wage is dependent on level of experience, knowledge, skills and education.

The position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Preparation of product for nondestructive testing and post-test cleaning
• Performance of Ultrasonic, Visual, Magnetic Particle, and Liquid Penetrant Testing
• Performance of Hardness Testing
• Performance of metallographic and related laboratory testing
• Performance of dimensional product inspection including CMM based methods
• Preparation of test reports suitable for customer review
• Maintenance of records of equipment calibration and testing material certification
• Performance of testing and inspection equipment calibrations
• Training of others in destructive and nondestructive test methods and dimensional inspection methods
• Accompany and assist customer auditors
• Periodic travel to subcontractor or customer locations may be required
• Regular attendance as scheduled is an essential function.
• This opportunity may require working altered shifts to support production and there will be times when overtime work will be mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Problem solving skills, verbal and written communication skills, and good interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well with a team, while also working independently; self-motivated
• Detail oriented with demonstrated work history record
• Good organizational skills, able to think on their own, takes initiative while multi-tasking

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certificate or Associates Degree in Nondestructive Testing, Metallurgical Fields, or Quality Assurance
• Prior relevant Nondestructive testing experience and skills, including UT, MT, PT, VT
• Prior Hardness Testing experience using Brinell, Shore, Rockwell, Vickers and Leeb based equipment
• Prior Mechanical Testing experience and skills
• Familiarity with the nondestructive testing requirements for Ellwood National Forge products
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and EGI Connect/Sharepoint
• Prior experience in Quality Assurance field
