Job summary

Forvia seeks a Quality Technician to validate first piece, sample, PPAP and line/vendor parts to ensure correct layout, measurement, and correlation with prints. You will work with the Quality Lab to drive actions in the Plant to meet Faurecia Excellence System requirements.

The role emphasizes GD&T, metrology, PPAP, and supplier quality, with collaboration across purchasing and manufacturing for continuous improvement. This is a full-time, non-management position located at the plant.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Quality, Engineering or Tool & Die Journeyperson certification or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional automotive quality experience with strong metrology background.
  • Sheet metal/Stainless steel manufacturing experience preferred in automotive industry.

Responsibilities

  • Represent customer requirements internally.
  • Define quality parameters and validate plant data, gages, layouts, PPAPs, customer returns and scraped parts; capture quality information and monitor process progress.
  • Manage the Plant Quality System and Lab procedures per Faurecia Excellence System.
  • Ensure Lab and shop measurement compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Report quality results and maintain records using approved quality tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing on Supplier Quality Assurance and external parts validation.
  • Interrupt manufacturing or delivery when quality is not assured.
  • Train Supervisors, GAP Leaders and Manufacturing Associates to validate parts per PPAP activities.
  • Apply 7 Quality Basics to meet customer requirements.
  • All other assigned tasks.

Job description

The role of a Quality Technician is to validate Quality First Piece, Sample, PPAP, and line/vendor sample audit parts are correctly laid out, measured, and correlated with existing or modified prints. They will work with the Quality Lab, and based on measurement data, take actions in the Plant to comply with the requirements of the Faurecia Excellence System with consideration to customers, Quality, Division, Business Group, and Corporate Quality guidelines.

The main missions of the role are:

  • Represent customer requirements internally
  • Define quality parameters and validate Plant data, gages, layouts, PPAP’s, Customer returns, and scraped parts; accurately capturing Quality information and monitor Quality Process progress
  • Manage the Plant Quality System and Quality Lab procedures and standards in accordance with the Faurecia Excellence System
  • Ensure the Plant Quality Lab's and Shop measurement compliance with all Safety and regulation standards
  • Report Quality results to all relevant parties and maintain Quality records and documentation; using approved quality tools, gages, CMM, Ferro Arms, and associated equipment
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing organization in all activities and initiatives concerning Supplier Quality Assurance, and validation of external parts
  • Interrupt the manufacturing or the delivery of products when Quality is not assured
  • Train and manage Supervisors, GAP Leaders and Manufacturing Associates to properly validate production and pre-production parts comply with PPAP activities
  • Use and teach 7 Quality Basics to meet Customer quality requirements
  • All other assigned tasks

Qualifications

Minimumeducation level: Associate’s Degree in Quality, Engineering or Tool & Die Journeyperson certification or experience equivalent

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional automotive quality experience with solid metrology background
  • Sheet metal/Stainless steel Manufacturing experience, preferably in the automotive industry

Skills and competencies:

  • Solid knowledge of GD&T, Tolerancing, Metrology Skills, and applied Quality tools (Ferro Arm/CMM) in Production, ASQ Mechanical Inspector certification preferred
  • Understanding of Gage R & R studies, DOE, Capability studies, use of Mini Tab, applied statistics/sampling techniques, 5 – Y root cause analysis, cut & etch weld techniques and validations
  • Quality and Manufacturing process orientation
  • Oral and written Communication skills
