Job Overview
The Quality Technician performs hands-on quality control checks across the production line, bottling, and sanitation processes, ensuring compliance with 21 CFR Part 111, GMP, and other applicable regulations. This role ensures every step of the quality control process is completed in accordance with regulatory SOPs — with thorough documentation, proper use of required forms, clear communication with production and management, and timely uploading of information into the proper files for transparency.

Key Responsibilities
Perform weight checks and inspect product appearance (shape, color, contaminants); monitor water activity.
Verify labels, lot numbers, and expiration dates against client specifications; check seal integrity, packaging quality, and fill levels, production line & bottling quality checks.
Report deviations to the Quality Team, support corrective actions, and assist with CAPA investigations.

Sampling
Collect raw material and finished product samples; complete forms, track COA turnaround, and communicate status.
Label and store retention samples; prepare samples for external lab testing as needed.

Sanitation, Equipment & Daily Checks
Conduct ATP swab testing and verify sanitation before production begins.
Perform daily verification of scales, Brix, pH, water activity, temperature, and humidity; assist with metal detector calibration.
Complete pre-operational inspections and confirm proper PPE use across production.

Documentation & Compliance
Complete QA sections of batch records, logbooks, checklists, and forms accurately, legibly, and with no blanks per GMP.
Ensure every step of the QC process follows regulatory SOPs, with thorough documentation and clear communication with production and management, and upload information into the proper files for transparency.
Conduct daily walk-throughs/audits for 21 CFR Part 111 compliance; complete change controls, deviations, and investigations.
Create and update SOPs, forms, and controlled documents; support third-party and regulatory audits.

General Duties
Communicate results and recommend process improvements; provide feedback to management.
Train staff and contractors as needed; follow all safety, cGMP, HACCP, and food defense practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods, up to a full shift on the production floor.
Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25–50 lbs (sample containers, raw material totes, product cases).
Manual dexterity and visual acuity for handling lab equipment, forms, labels, and fine-print documentation.
Tolerate varying conditions (cold storage, humidity, noise) and wear required PPE for extended periods.
Occasional climbing to access elevated equipment; repetitive motions from sampling and documentation tasks.
Work safely near moving machinery, following all site safety protocols.

Education & Certifications
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field preferred.
cGMP, HACCP, and Food Safety training or certification.
Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word; strong attention to detail and communication skills.

Experience
Minimum 2 years experience at food, dietary, or related manufacturing facility.
