Job summary

Allison Transmission in Lewisburg, TN is seeking a Quality Tech-1 to inspect and verify parts per customer blueprints and work instructions. You will run CMM with DCC on each die cast machine, perform gage calibration, review SPC data, and determine part disposition from reports.

• Able to pass powered lift equipment testing.

Responsibilities

• Run a DCC program on the CMM for each die cast machine.
• Determine part disposition from reviewing reports.
• Run capability studies and review study statistics.
• Maintain CMM machines.
• Read core drawings and ensure conformance to blueprints.
• Verify work instructions are current and followed.
• Document conformance to visual standards per work instructions.
• Support training operators to identify non-conformities.
• Initiate corrective action and containment for nonconforming product.
• Assist investigations and recommend improvements or corrective actions.
• Calibrate gauges such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, thread gauges.
• Review SPC and react accordingly; perform floor audits and gauge checks.
• Measure parts to customer blueprints; analyze data and present to team.
• Use laser weld repair when required; overtime as needed.

Job Title: Quality Tech-1

Job Description:

• Run a DCC Program (Direct Computer Control) on the CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) each die cast machine.
• Determine from reviewing the report the part disposition.
• Run Capability Studies and review the statistics from the study.
• Maintain (maintenance) CMM machines.
• Be able to read core drawings.
• Verify work instructions are complete, current and being followed
• Confirm and document product conformance to visual standards. (To the part number specific work instructions, inspection check sheets and or Quality Alerts).
• Support Supervisors in the training of operators to identify non-conformities.
• Initiate corrective action and containment whenever nonconforming product is found or suspected.
• Assist in the investigation of quality issues and recommendation of improvements or corrective actions.
• Perform gage calibration as required Callipers, micrometres, bore gages, thread gages, etc.
• A few of the gages are sent to another company to be calibrated.
• Know how to perform or participate in a gage R & R study.
• Repair and/or replace any gages that are damaged.
• Read SPC and react accordingly.
• Perform floor Audits and/or gage checks per required frequency and control plan.
• Measure the parts to the blueprint provided from the customer to make sure the part meets all requirements.
• Analyse the information and present information to the team.
• Have ability to use and perform laser weld repair when required or assigned.
• Overtime as required.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor or lead.

High school diploma or GED. Must be able to pass powered lift equipment testing. Ability to understand standards and product specifications. B Basic computing (MS Office). Ability to read, write and speak English. The Quality Technician must be able to tolerate exposure to elements such as elevated temperature and noise during periods of time spent on the factory floor.
