Job summary

Air Lift Company in Lansing, MI is seeking a Quality Technician to perform comprehensive quality inspections and verifications to ensure products meet internal and customer requirements. You will support APQP, collaborate with engineering and production teams, and mentor junior technicians.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or similar certification.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T.
  • Experience with PPAP, SPC, FMEA, and other quality tools.
  • Familiarity with the principles of metrology and gage calibration.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced dimensional, visual, and functional inspections of components, assemblies, and finished goods using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, CMMs).
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and work instructions.
  • First article inspections (FAI), in-process, and final inspections; prepare related documentation such as ISIRs, PPAPs, and control plans.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventative action activities (RCA, 5-Whys, Fishbone, etc.).
  • Review and update quality documents such as inspection procedures, work instructions, and checklists.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams including production, product management (APQP), engineering, and supply chain to resolve quality issues.
  • Assist in audits (internal, supplier, customer, or third-party) and maintain traceability of quality records in accordance with ISO 9001 and/or other relevant processes.
  • Monitor and report on key quality metrics; escalation non-conformances and assist in disposition of nonconforming materials.
  • Operate and program automated inspection equipment where applicable (e.g., CMM, vision systems).

Job Summary:
