Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Quality Systems Engineer to strengthen the Starlink product quality program. You will define and maintain the QMS, ensure ISO 9001 compliance, and drive quality improvements across manufacturing and supplier processes.

Responsibilities include leading audits, implementing corrective actions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to minimize risk and ensure product quality across the Starlink platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a STEM field.
• 1+ years experience in mechanical or electrical product design, testing, or manufacturing.
• Thorough knowledge of ISO 9001 standards.
• ASQ-CQA-RAB certification or equivalent training is a plus.
• Experience with quality tools including root cause, corrective action, audits, and statistical analysis.
• Working knowledge of SQL and Tableau for metrics.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and update Starlink’s Quality Management System (QMS) and train SpaceX personnel on ISO 9001 requirements.
• Assess core business processes, systems, and products through internal audits to ensure compliance with customer requirements and ISO 9001.
• Use corrective and preventive actions to address non-conformances and drive continual improvement.
• Support internal, vendor, and external audits.
• Identify major quality risks in manufacturing and partner with stakeholders to minimize them.

These products including Starlink dishes, Wi‑Fi routers, power supply, and accessories, etc. are designed and manufactured in-house by SpaceX. Engineers on the team will be hands‑on, regularly interact with multiple technical disciplines, and ultimately ensure that Starlink is a global success. The Quality Systems Engineer will improve the quality management system and verify compliance to ISO 9001 prescribed procedures. They will plan, schedule, and perform regular audits to drive continual improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Define and regularly update Starlink’s Quality Management System (“QMS”) and provide frequent training to relevant SpaceX personnel on ISO 9001 compliance requirements and industry standards
• Assess Starlink core business processes, systems, and products through internal audit program to assure compliance to customer requirements, SpaceX procedures and policies, and ISO 9001 standards
• Utilize corrective and preventive action processes to address compliance non‑conformances and drive improvement of the management system and quality of the Starlink Product
• Support internal audits, vendor/supplier audits, and audits from external parties
• Take a methodical approach to identifying the largest quality related issues and risks impacting manufacturing of the Starlink Product and partner with relevant stakeholders to minimize risk

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in an engineering or STEM discipline
• 1+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical product design, testing, or manufacturing

Preferred Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical product design, testing, or manufacturing
• Thorough knowledge of the ISO family of standards especially ISO 9001
• ASQ‑CQA‑RAB certified lead auditor or training with hands‑on implementation and assessment experience
• Intimate knowledge of manufacturing and supplier quality processes
• Experience with quality tools including root cause and corrective action, QMS and process auditing, and statistical analysis of quality metrics
• Working knowledge of SQL, ability to construct and/or maintain Tableau metrics
• Strong technical writing skills, ability to communicate effectively with management, technical teams and all organizations in the business, and strong problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative with a strong work ethic; is innovative, detail oriented, positive, and be people oriented

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
• Must be willing to relocate to the Bastrop, TX area if not already local; remote or hybrid work not considered
