Job summary

Samuel, Son & Co. is seeking a quality-focused engineering intern to support daily QA activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Fontana, CA.

You will help develop and standardize QMS documentation, assist with PFMEA, control plans, and process diagrams, and participate in cross-functional improvement initiatives. Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials, or related Engineering discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and manufacturing specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma is a plus.
• Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Power BI, Minitab, GageTrak, or similar engineering/quality software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the Quality department in daily quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.
• Assist with the development, revision, and standardization of QMS documentation (procedures, work instructions, forms, visual aids).
• Support PFMEA, Control Plans, process flow diagrams, and related quality documentation.
• Assist with internal quality audits, audit prep, corrective action follow-up, and audit documentation.
• Participate in quality improvement projects focusing on standardization, waste reduction, defect prevention, and efficiency.
• Assist with quality data collection, documentation, reports, metrics, and dashboards.
• Support calibration activities, equipment records, and quality system compliance.
• Assist with inspection method development, quality standards, and customer specifications reviews.
• Develop standardized work instructions, visual standards, and process documentation for manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to identify process improvements and implement corrective actions.
• Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives using structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Maintain project documentation and communicate progress to Quality Management.
• Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Quality Management.

The base pay range for this position is $23.00-$26.00. If you are hired, your base pay will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base pay range for the role.
