Job summary

Ground Effects LLC in Sterling Heights, MI is seeking a Quality Supervisor to oversee the quality process and ensure a world class product is installed on our customers' vehicles. You will support development and maintenance of process documentation and manage inspectors within your team.

You will train staff, conduct audits (IATF16949), and ensure compliance with OSHA and Environmental Management System while reporting quality metrics to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum required: Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Further education in relevant field.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with TS16949 or IATF16949 is preferred but trainable.

Job description

The position of Quality Supervisor is to oversee the quality process to ensure a world class quality product is being installed on our customer’s vehicles. Support of development and maintenance process documentation, work instructions, and management of LPA and required system. This position will ensure proper team support to meet production requirements with supporting and delegating the quality inspectors within their team. Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment for all employees while enforcing compliance of all environmental, health & safety policies and procedures, current attendance program and disciplinary action program.

Key Responsibilities
  • ‘Hands On” production floor presence required to ensure a quality product is being installed on our customer’s vehicles.
    • Train quality staff on all quality processes, completion of QA check-sheets and critical vehicle inspection points.
    • Support and maintenance of vehicle travelers and QA check-sheets for new and current programs.
    • Provide quality report along with customers reports weekly or as required.
    • Internal audits for IATF 16949, LPA and assist with corrective actions as required.
    • Ensure/Audit all work in process is properly tagged in accordance with procedures and instructions.
    • Complete Gauge R&R, MSA, SPC and other studies as required.
    • Ensure that all production hold units are address daily and repaired as needed and follow up with shift team members.
    • Approval of vacation time and scheduling of Quality Inspectors to ensure effective shift coverage.
  • Support and follow up with supplier issues including CAR requests, DMR, and supplier visits to plant build locations.
  • Monthly excel quality report out for supplier, customer, FTQ, Top QA issues, etc.
  • Support to customer concerns / corrective actions and warranty claims in a timely manner with the assistance of the Quality Specialist / Division Quality Manager.
  • Maintain communication channels with Production Supervisor and Plant Manager to ensure First Time Quality is achieved while ensuring production build schedule is adhered too.
    • Be present on APQP calls and support per Division Quality Manager or designee’s instruction.
  • Ensure OSHA and internal safe operating principles are in place and adhered to. Comply with provisions of the OSHA Regulations and take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the employees. Ensure employees are acquainted with and aware of the hazards present in the workplace and provide information, instruction and properly supervise employees.
    • Ensure compliance with the Environmental Management System.

Qualifications
  • Education
    • Minimum Required: Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent is required.
    • Preferred: Further education in relevant field is highly preferred.
  • Experience
    • Minimum Required: One to three years of experience in a related quality field with automotive manufacturing background.
    • Preferred: Familiarity with TS16949 or IATF16949, Quality Control Plans, PFMEA, Quality Audits, Environmental Management System and OSHA Requirements is preferred but will train.
  • Must be team oriented and have excellent communication, organizational, and basic computer skills.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
Working Conditions

The following working conditions are present or expected on a daily basis:

  • Manufacturing environment with leadership assignments.
  • Continuous exposure to weather elements, chemical, robotics, industrial manufacturing and automotive vehicles.
  • Must comply with all Company policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Must be present in all areas of the production floor providing support, training, direction and compliance. Presence on production floor should be 75% or more of daily work time.
  • Personal Protective Equipment must be worn at all times while on the production floor.
