Available Shifts :

  • 2nd Shift : Monday - Friday 3pm-11pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accountable to communicate and ensure compliance with all Health and Safety Act & Regulations, Blommer health & safety policies and procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements
  • Maintain all quality programs and ensure they are kept up to date
  • Document standard work instructions for routine and repetitive tasks and provide to team members responsible for completing the tasks
  • Validate product quality through instrumentation testing & physical testing of raw materials, in process material and finished goods, as well as use of outside laboratories
  • Maintain and evaluate operation of all laboratory equipment and spare parts inventories
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all incoming materials, daily test results and all out going shipments
  • Work with all levels of management to achieve and maintain the British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of each production process and products, including components and functions
  • Understand the critical success factors of each process, diagnose and resolve critical and chronic problems
  • Establish effective vendor relationships with outside laboratories and maintain appropriate service / maintenance agreements on all lab equipment
  • Foster strong relationships between lab and other departments personnel (and others as required) utilizing a team / customer-based approach
  • Ensure effective written and oral communication within the lab team and user departments
  • Create a sense of urgency and ownership within the lab team related to the achievement of production targets and project completion
  • Assist in all necessary third-party audits and ensure that corrective action lists are communicated to the appropriate departments for review
  • Complete all customer questionnaires, assist with customer audits and provide feedback on corrective actions lists
  • Communicate with customers on complaints about our products and work with other department to form corrective action plans to prevent further occurrences
  • Ensure appropriate budgetary / spending controls are in place and being applied
  • Operate within the Blommer core values of respect and care for others

Safety, Quality and Hygiene Requirements:

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and code of conduct
  • Comply with workplace uniform requirements and safety gear
  • Comply with all safety and quality policies and procedures including lockout tag out, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP and Allergen

Performance Expectations:

  • Convey a positive attitude and a sense of curiosity in learning new roles and responsibilities
  • Operate with a high set of standards to produce consistent, quality-driven results
  • Identify and escalate errors in batches, defects in production and any material issues that impede production
  • Demonstrate flexibility to rotate into other production areas and perform additional duties
  • Respect work hours and schedules, timely attendance, and notice requirements for absences or lateness

Skills and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Five (5+) years of laboratory experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Able to follow clear instructions
  • Able to read and write English to perform tasks successfully
  • Knowledge of GMP and FDA HACCP is essential
  • Significant knowledge base in the area of Lean and 5S Lean Manufacturing Methodology preferred
  • Basic technology skills to record data into computer or electronic tablet
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office suite
  • Continuous attention to details in performing all tasks
  • Comfortable working as an individual contributor as well as with a team, as required
  • Expected to identify, communicate/escalate and problem-solve as issues arise

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Food Science or related field
  • Association for Supply Chain Management (APICS) Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) certificate preferred
