McConway & Torley is seeking a Quality Supervisor in Pittsburgh, PA. You will lead the QA team performing inspections and quality control to ensure conformance with standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering or related field, 3+ years QA experience, and 2+ years supervisory experience. Occasional overtime and shift coordination are expected in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Coaching, leading, and mentoring a quality team while maintaining safety and compliance
• Partnering with Manufacturing Operations to solve problems and maintain efficiencies
• Work with production to address and resolve issues
• Lead and make decisions to ensure jobs are done safely and efficiently
• Identify changes needed and create drafts to modify checklists/documents
• Instruct QA staff to adapt tasks as needed
• Operate measurement equipment such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, gauges
• Coordinate issues with management as primary contact
• Maintain and modify the hourly inspection schedule
• Train and assist QA inspectors; be a team player
• Hands-on inspections and willingness to pursue MPI or other certifications
• Must be detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking

Quality Supervisor

McConway & Torley is looking for Quality Supervisor. In this role, you will lead the workflow and supervise a team that is performing basic quality control testing and inspection of standard parts, units, equipment, or material to ensure conformance with standards and determining if product meets all requirements. You will need to ensure that the work of your team is being performed accurately and efficiently.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Shift: 5am-2pm with occasional variance depending on production needs

What You’ll do:

• Coaching, Leading, and mentoring a highly committed quality team, while exercising strong leadership qualities
• Partner with Manufacturing Operations to solve problems while maintaining manufacturing efficiencies, meeting competitive business deadlines and increasing customer satisfaction levels
• Specifically, work with production to solve problems
• Ability to take the lead and make decisions to get jobs done safely, while coordinating with others in the department as well as outside of the department
• Ability to identify changes needed and create drafts to modify checklists/documents
• Give instructions to other QA employees to change tasks as needed
• Operate/use various measurement equipment such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, gauges etc.
• Coordinate issues with management as the main point of contact
• Maintain and modify the schedule for the hourly inspection workforce
• Train and assist other QA inspectors in the department. Must be a team player.
• Will be hands on with inspections and fill in as needed. Must be willing to pursue MPI and/or other certifications as needed.
• Must be a detail-oriented person. Recognize when something is different and ask why. Must be able to multi-task, while staying precise.

Required Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of previous Quality Assurance or Inspection Experience, preferably in Steel or a related manufacturing industry
• 2 or more years of experience directly or indirectly leading or supervising

Preferred Qualifications:

• Methodical problem-solving skills are a must
• Must have prior experience with quality inspection on M&T parts, or similar related experience
• Proven history of strong leadership exhibited

Education:

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field is required
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Working Conditions:

• Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
• This position may require support coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
• Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant

• Know and follow all safety rules and procedures.
• Participate in safety committees and initiatives as assigned.
