Job summary

Hanwha Aerospace USA, located in Connecticut, seeks a Quality Engineering Supervisor to lead the quality engineering team and drive continuous improvement across the QMS. The role reports to the Quality Manager and focuses on policy deployment, KPI achievement, and adherence to export controls.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in quality/manufacturing engineering and prior leadership experience, with aerospace manufacturing background and proficiency in PPAP/FAI, SPC, MSA, and inspection

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Person and able to work with ITAR data.
  • Bachelor’s degree in management or engineering preferred.
  • 3+ years aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • 5+ years in quality or manufacturing engineering.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the quality engineers and drive training plans.
  • Develop skills matrix to define required capabilities and staffing.
  • Monitor performance and implement actions to reach KPIs.
  • Ensure QMS procedures are understood and followed.
  • Support RCCA, daily quality reviews, and SPC data actions.
  • Oversee MCAT process reporting quality KPIs YOY.
  • Manage Quality Planning / NPI to ensure PPAP/FAI completion.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Summary:

The Quality Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for quality engineers and all activities associated with the Quality function reporting directly to the Quality Manager.

Essential Functions:
  • Lead and manage the quality engineers, including development, implementation, and continuous improvement of all policies, procedures, and goals.
  • Develop, utilize, and update employee skill matrix to define necessary skills to perform the requirements of the job adequately and safely, to develop gaps and associated training development plans and to ensure department is adequately staffed to meet business needs.
  • Monitor department and employee performance – implement actions to achieve targeted performance objectives.
  • Ensure process and procedures defined in the Quality Management System (QMS) are understood and followed.
  • Be cognizant of Export Control requirements and controls, taking necessary steps to always ensure export compliance.
  • Drive robust RCCA process with real time daily stand-up Quality reviews and SPC data collection / actions.
  • Support monthly MCAT (Material Corrective Action Team) process with on-time reporting of Quality KPI’s - driving YOY improvements in quality performance.
  • Manage the Quality Planning / NPI process in line with the Quality NPI tracker to ensure on-time and completeness of Quality NPI requirements such as PPAP and FAI
  • Perform other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by the U.S. Government and able to work without restrictions with ITAR related data
  • High School Degree or G.E.D required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in management or engineering preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in aerospace manufacturing.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in quality and/or manufacturing engineering.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of ERP system (Syteline preferred).
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and quality engineering practices.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing support processes and systems (inspection, gauging, PPAP, AS9102, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, records & reporting).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, operation sheets, and inspection reports.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and standard business practices.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English at a functional level.
  • Ability to travel 5-10% when required.
