Job summary

API Heat Transfer in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Quality Supervisor to lead the ASME program and drive Lean Cultural Change on the Operations team. You will supervise staff, coordinate with engineering, sales and purchasing, and ensure compliance with contract requirements and quality codes.

The role requires 7+ years in a similar function, 5+ years of supervisory experience, manufacturing experience, and strong documentation skills. Overhead crane experience and lifting up to 50 lbs are a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years in a similar function.
• Five years of supervisory/management experience.
• Manufacturing environment experience required.
• Experience with detailed documentation highly valued.
• Experience with welding procedures and welder qualifications a plus.
• NDE experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and maintain the ASME program.
• Review contract files and coordinate with engineering, sales and purchasing.
• Provide training for inspection personnel and maintain qualification records.
• Perform and/or supervise NDE procedures and coordinate subcontracting.
• Hire, coach and evaluate staff.
• Perform internal audits of quality/ISO program.
• Qualify/maintain welding procedures and welder qualifications.
• Maintain welder qualification records and testing.
• Prepare and update NDE records, qualifications and procedures.
• Provide limited backup support for inspection personnel.
• Review material traceability for code/customer compliance.
• Monitor special testing applications (oil flush, etc.).
• Oversee nameplate preparation/attachments and inspections.
• Order inspection department supplies and coordinate repairs/alterations.
• Prepare for National Board ASME code audits and oversee rejection/ calibration systems.

What You Will Do:

• Supervise and maintain the ASME program.
• Review contract files/customer specifications and coordinate special requirements with engineering, sales and purchasing.
• Provide training for inspection personnel, maintain qualification records as required.
• Perform and/or supervise NDE procedures. Coordinate NDE subcontracting.
• Hire, coach and evaluate staff.
• Additional responsibilities
  • Perform internal audits of quality/ISO program.
  • Qualify/maintain welding procedures to meet contract requirements/ASME code.
  • Maintain welder qualification records. Supervisor welder qualification testing.
  • Prepare and update NDE records, personnel qualifications and procedures.
  • Provide limited backup support for inspection personnel.
  • Review/supervise material traceability system for compliance with code/customer requirements.
  • Monitor special testing applications for conformance (oil flush, oxygen cleaning, etc).
  • Supervise nameplate preparation/attachments.
  • Order inspection department supplies.
  • Perform vendor audits as required.Prepare for National Board ASME code audit.
  • Oversee rejection report system.
  • Oversee calibration system.
  • Monitor receiving inspection and initiate solutions as required.
  • Coordinate repairs/alterations of ASME vessels.

What You Will Bring:

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree preferred.
• Minimum 7 years in similar function.
• Five years of supervisory/management experience.
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment required.
• Must have experience preparing and working with detailed documentation.
• Experience with writing and managing weld procedures and welder qualifications a plus.
• Experience with non-destructive examination (NDE) a plus.
• Union environment experience preferred.
• Ability to lift and move product up to 50lbs as well as use overhead crane.
