Job summary

Copeland Industrial LP is seeking a Quality Senior Manager to spearhead a team advancing quality systems and partnering across functions. You will drive ISO9001 certification, maintain QMS documentation, and improve policies, procedures, and KPIs to safeguard profitability.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, 3+ years of plant quality leadership, and strong Six Sigma/Lean expertise. Travel to plant sites, customers, and suppliers will be involved.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a plant quality manager leading QMS for global, matrixed organizations.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of ISO9001, Six Sigma, and Lean.
  • Strong proficiency in project management approaches and tools.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience partnering with senior management and executives.

  • Streamline and improve quality policies, procedures, and instructions.

  • Own data strategy for warranty, first‑pass yield, and cost of poor quality.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Product Safety, and Procurement across the product lifecycle.
  • Coach and develop direct reports and set development expectations for quality professionals.
  • Provide direction on solving defined problems with complex interfaces.

Job Overview

Copeland’s approach to quality is established within a structured methodology that provides a consistent, documented, and auditable platform for operations with the capability to manage risk and change. The Quality Senior Manager will spearhead a team that will advance quality systems and partner across all functions.

Responsibilities
  • Direct a cross‑functional team and third‑party consultant through preparation and official certification of ISO9001.
  • Develop and maintain documented information reflected in the Quality Management System to meet ISO9001 requirements, coordinating internal technical audit teams and quality certification processes and additional agency requirements such as CSA, ASME, and PED.
  • Streamline and continually improve existing quality policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Control key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, balancing external customer satisfaction against internal process efficiency to safeguard profitability.
  • Own the data and strategy for continual improvement of warranty rates, customer issues, first‑pass yield, and cost of poor quality.
  • Integrate technical excellence into every aspect of the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Product Safety, and Procurement throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Coaching and developing direct reports, setting expectations on the development of quality professionals.
  • Provide direction on developing solutions to problems that have been defined but require further investigation to clarify complex interfaces and desired solutions.
  • Engage with educational institutions, societies, equipment manufacturers, agencies, etc., to keep abreast of new developments germane to quality, reliability, and agency activities.
  • Apply continual improvement conventions and techniques, use data analysis and statistical methods, coordinate the use of Lean/Six Sigma tools (DMAIC, 5S+1, Process Capability Analysis, SPC, MSA, FMEA, Lean techniques, etc.).
  • Provide quality and reliability related requirements/metrics as part of the New Product Development process and related phase/gate reviews.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a plant quality manager with demonstrated experience spearheading, implementing, and managing Quality Management Systems for global, matrixed organizations.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of quality management conventions and methodologies, including ISO9001, Six Sigma, and Lean.
  • Strong proficiency in project management approaches and tools.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience partnering closely with and advising senior management and executives.
  • Proven problem‑solving and root‑cause identification skills.
  • Strong analytic and decision‑making abilities.
  • Proven ability to influence others, work effectively with all levels of an organization, and move teams toward a common vision or goal.
  • Ability to travel and work with plant locations, customers, and suppliers to resolve complex quality or reliability problems.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
  • MBA or related advanced degree.
  • Engineering‑to‑Order experience.
  • HVACR industry experience.
  • Membership in the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and certified as a Quality Engineer, Quality Manager, or Reliability Engineer.
