Job summary

Kenco Group is seeking a Safety Supervisor in Kansas to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and oversee safety programs across the distribution center. You will supervise PIT training and PPE programs while partnering with Operations to promote safe daily practices.

The role requires safety leadership experience in warehousing or manufacturing, knowledge of OSHA regulations, and strong collaboration with site teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in management, occupational health and safety, human resources or engineering from four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of six months supervisory experience in safety leadership.
  • Experience in warehousing, distribution, or related industries preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate safety training programs.
  • Conduct safety audits of facilities and equipment.
  • Investigate incidents and determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Maintain site safety policies, procedures and records.

Specifically, the Safety Supervisor manages the Powered Industrial Truck Training and Personal Protective Equipment programs. This position directly supervises up to two Powered Industrial Truck Trainers. May include responsibility for temporary staff as needed for fluctuations in workload.FunctionsDevelop and facilitate various safety training programsHelps develop the warehouse and distribution center safety program.Conducts safety audits including but not limited to fire equipment, dock conditions, housekeeping, rack conditions, material conditions, and electrical conditions.Partner with Operations to build support for safety initiativesSupports operations and other team members on incident analysis, corrective action development and root cause determination.Identifies and corrects at risk behaviors immediately when observed.Maintains required governmental reporting documentsSupport investigations into all accidentsPeriodically review conditions of powered industrial equipment and maintenance proceduresProvide safety information to supervisors that will improve safety in their areas of responsibilityAssist the Safety Manager and Operation Managers with any special projects that require safety input.Maintain, update, and add as necessary site policies, procedures, standard work instructions, and tools to improve the efficacy of the quality management system.Administer internal audit program to ensure compliance to the quality management system through training auditors, auditing processes and procedures, and measuring results.Identify training needs and organize training interventions to meet quality standards.Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues and perform root cause and corrective action investigations to improve the quality management system.Collect and compile statistical quality data and analyze to identify areas for improvement to the quality management system.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor's degree in management, occupational health and safety, human resources or engineering from four-year college or university; Or two- to five-years’ experience in logistics or manufacturing management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of six months supervisory experience Safety leadership experience.Experience in warehousing, distribution, or related preferredPrevious experience in the safety field as a safety specialist, technician, or trainerPrior powered industrial truck experienceComputer knowledge in Microsoft softwareKnowledge of OSHA, DOT, federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to safetyCompetenciesBusiness Acumen - Knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information affecting his/her business and organization.Communicate for Impact - Proactively communicate with all stakeholders throughout the life cycle of programs and projects.Influencing Others - Can quickly find common ground and can solve problems for the good of the organization with a minimal amount of noise.
