Job summary

Timberline Construction Group seeks an early-career Quality & Safety Field Engineer to support our Civil Division on underground utility and site preparation projects.

The role targets recent graduates or professionals 1–3 years out, combining quality control, safety compliance, project documentation, and hands-on field support while collaborating with PMs, superintendents, crews, subcontractors, clients, and inspectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or related field.
• Recent graduate or 1–3 years of experience; internship/co-op in construction welcomed.
• Exposure to heavy civil construction, underground utilities, site prep, or infrastructure is a plus.
• Ability to read construction plans and specs with strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
• Experience with construction software (Bluebeam, AutoCAD, HCSS, Unanet) is a plus.
• Self-motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced field setting.

Responsibilities

• Support project-specific quality control plans and field inspections for plans, specs, codes, and standards.
• Coordinate material submittals, testing, inspections, and documentation for water, sewer, storm drainage, and site work.
• Assist with jobsite safety audits, safety plans, toolbox talks, OSHA compliance, near-miss tracking, and corrective actions.
• Assist Project Managers with RFIs, change orders, daily reports, purchase requisitions, project records, and as-built drawings.
• Coordinate with field crews, subcontractors, inspectors, clients, and internal teams to resolve quality, safety, or field concerns.
• Review daily reports and timecards for accuracy of labor hours, quantities, equipment, and materials.
• Assist with weekly project updates, bid proposals, cost projections, and Work Performance Reports (WPRs).
• Help monitor subcontractor and vendor performance while gaining exposure to scheduling, cost management, and project closeout.
