Job summary

Richardson Electronics, Ltd. in Illinois is seeking a Quality Release Engineer to provide independent oversight of new product and process releases, ensuring quality controls before production and throughout changes.

You will review documents, certify readiness, and drive release actions. The role requires strong APQP knowledge, PFMEA/Control Plans, and experience with NPI or production quality; ASQ CQE or Six Sigma is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline; 5+ years in manufacturing, process, or quality engineering.
• Strong knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, process capability, measurement systems, and risk assessment.
• Experience with NPI, manufacturing process release, or production quality; ASQ CQE, Six Sigma a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and lead Release Kaizen Events to stress test production readiness; includes docs, instructions, tooling, and process controls.
• Provide independent Quality review and approval of new product and process releases, verifying that production can consistently build conforming product.
• Review PFMEAs, Control Plans, inspection sheets, and other quality documentation for adequacy and effectiveness.
• Review and approve product, process, supplier, and documentation changes to ensure established quality controls remain effective.
• Verify completion of validation and qualification activities, including first-piece inspections, process capability, and measurement requirements.
• Monitor post-release production performance to verify effectiveness of controls and identify gaps.
• Exercise independent Quality release authority and escalate risks when release requirements are not met.
