Job summary

TOMI Engineering is seeking a Quality Receiving / Assembly Inspector (Aerospace) in California to perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections on complex aircraft parts and assemblies, ensuring conformance to drawings and internal specifications.

The role requires strong blueprint reading, GD&T skills, and experience with aerospace hardware verification, including fasteners and inserts, as well as documentation of FAIRs and non-conformances.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–4 years of aerospace quality inspection experience.
• Direct knowledge of PS and BAC processes is required.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills.
• HS diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections on aerospace parts and assemblies.
• Inspect and verify proper installation of aerospace hardware including solid rivets, Eddie bolts, and swaged/staked inserts.
• Verify incoming precision machined parts, raw materials, and components against blueprints, purchase orders, and engineering drawings.
• Ensure compliance with PS and BAC standards in assembly and fabrication processes.
• Generate detailed inspection records, material certifications, and FAIRs.
• Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming materials; issue rejection tags and coordinate with engineering to resolve discrepancies.

Job description

Position: Quality Receiving / Assembly Inspector (Aerospace)

Pay Rate: $33.00 – $40.00 per hour (Based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Assembly Inspection: Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections on complex aircraft parts and mechanical assemblies.
• Fastener & Insert Verification: Inspect and verify the proper installation of aerospace hardware, including solid rivets, Eddie bolts, and swaged/staked inserts.
• Receiving Inspection: Verify incoming precision machined parts, raw materials, and components against blueprints, purchase orders, and engineering drawings.
• Process Compliance: Ensure all assembly and fabrication processes strictly adhere to internal PS (Process Specifications) and Boeing BAC (Boeing Process Specifications)standards.
• Documentation: Generate detailed inspection records, material certifications, and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
• Non-Conformance Management: Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming materials. Issue rejection tags and collaborate with engineering to resolve discrepancies.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Aerospace Experience: Minimum 2 to 4 years of quality inspection experience specifically within an aerospace manufacturing or assembly environment.
• Specification Knowledge: Direct, working understanding of PS and BAC processes is strictly required.
• Technical Skills: Exceptional blueprint reading skills, including a strong grasp of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Tool Proficiency: Mastery of precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and pin gauges.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus.

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret instructions in English.
• Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with others.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS

• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to stretch, bend and reach work areas
• Must be able to occasionally reach, bend, stoop, lift, and move parts weighing 50 lbs or less.
• Ability to perform essential functions of the job

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Some work is performed on the production floor, which is subject to moderate changes in temperature.
