Job summary

Standard Calibrations, Inc. seeks a Quality Program Manager – Supplier Quality & Internal Audits to oversee supplier qualification, audits, and QMS activities. You will coordinate with Purchasing, Quality leadership, and process owners to ensure compliance and readiness for customer reviews.

The role leads supplier scorecards, audit planning, and corrective actions, while supporting Final Inspection, training, and continual QMS enhancements to meet ISO requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in quality, engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible quality experience in quality assurance, QS, auditing, supplier quality, or related environments.
• Military, technical, or industry experience may substitute formal education.
• Experience leading audits and cross-functional quality activities is strongly preferred.

Description

The Quality Program Manager – Supplier Quality & Internal Audits is responsible for managing SCI’s supplier quality and internal audit programs and supporting Final Inspection, Quality training, and Quality Management System activities.

This position ensures suppliers remain appropriately qualified and monitored, internal audits are effectively planned and completed, findings and trends are communicated to Quality leadership, and assigned Quality programs remain ready for customer, regulatory, and accreditation review.

The position works closely with the Quality Manager, Quality Systems Manager, Laboratory Quality & Technical Manager, Quality Program Manager – Contracts and Products, Final Inspectors, Purchasing, Operations, and other process owners.

Requirements

Roles and Responsibilities

Supplier Quality

• Own and maintain SCI’s approved supplier program, supplier lists, qualification records, and supporting documentation.
• Review supplier qualifications, certifications, accreditation status, and other required objective evidence.
• Monitor expiration of supplier certifications and accreditation evidence and obtain updated documentation as required.
• Maintain SCI’s supplier evaluation and supplier scorecard programs.
• Monitor supplier performance and identify recurring or significant supplier quality concerns.
• Coordinate supplier quality issues with Purchasing, Quality leadership, and applicable process owners.
• Support evaluation and approval of outsourced calibration providers in coordination with the Laboratory Quality & Technical Manager and other applicable stakeholders.
• Maintain identification and monitoring of critical suppliers as required by SCI’s QMS.

Internal Audit Program

• Develop and maintain SCI’s internal audit schedule and audit plan.
• Coordinate audit scope, criteria, resources, and scheduling with applicable process owners.
• Select qualified internal auditors and ensure appropriate auditor training and independence.
• Lead, coordinate, and participate in internal audits.
• Document audit results and ensure findings are appropriately communicated and entered into applicable corrective action processes.
• Track internal audit completion and follow-up activities.
• Coordinate with Quality leadership and technical management when audits involve ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, customer, regulatory, or accreditation requirements.
• Support readiness for external QMS, customer, regulatory, and accreditation audits.

Final Inspection & Quality Support

• Coordinate Final Inspection scheduling and coverage as required.
• Support consistent execution of Final Inspection requirements, including applicable sampling requirements.
• Assist with resolution and escalation of inspection issues requiring Quality management involvement.
• Support analysis of customer surveys, feedback, and other Quality performance information.
• Provide Quality support to operational departments when assigned.

Quality Training

• Develop and coordinate Quality-related training in cooperation with Quality leadership and process owners.
• Support company-wide training related to Quality procedures, requirements, and responsibilities.
• Maintain or support appropriate training materials and evidence of completed Quality training.
• Identify training needs arising from audits, supplier performance, inspection findings, process changes, and Quality trends.

Quality Management System Support

• Support implementation and continual improvement of SCI’s Quality Management System.
• Support the Quality Systems Manager with document control, controlled-document changes, QMS records, and system implementation as assigned.
• Support corrective and preventive actions associated with supplier quality, internal audits, Final Inspection, and other assigned programs.
• Monitor assigned Quality metrics and provide status, trends, risks, and significant issues to the Quality Manager.
• Exercise stop-work and escalation authority when quality, safety, customer requirements, or QMS compliance may be compromised.
• Promote SCI’s expectations for quality, safety, accountability, and continual improvement.

Required Education and Training

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in quality, Business, Engineering, a technical discipline, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in quality assurance, quality management systems, internal auditing, supplier quality, inspection, manufacturing, calibration/metrology, defense, or a comparable quality-controlled environment.
• Relevant military, technical, or industry experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education.
• Previous experience leading audits, quality programs, or cross-functional quality activities is strongly preferred.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management system principles.
• Experience with internal auditing, supplier quality, quality assurance, inspection, or related quality-controlled activities.
• Ability to interpret procedures, customer requirements, accreditation information, and supplier documentation.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple recurring programs and deadlines.
• Ability to document audit results and quality issues clearly and objectively.
• Demonstrated ability to lead audits with confidence, professionalism, and authority, including directing audit activities, asking challenging questions, maintaining control of the audit process, communicating findings clearly, and engaging effectively with personnel and leadership across the organization
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and electronic quality/document management systems.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Pass a pre-employment background check – for base/shipyard access and/or handling of Confidential Unclassified Information (CUI).

Preferred Qualifications / Training

• Experience with ISO 9001:2015 and/or ISO/IEC 17025.
• Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor training.
• Experience with supplier qualification, supplier performance monitoring, or supplier auditing.
• Experience in calibration, metrology, manufacturing, defense, technical services, or another regulated/quality-controlled environment.
• ASQ or equivalent quality certification preferred.

Appearance

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds with assistance, as needed.
