Job summary

Gore Fabrics is seeking a Supplier Quality Assurance Associate to evaluate and monitor external components, supplies, and services for quality systems and performance. The role is located in Elkton, Maryland, with a hybrid work arrangement and opportunities to collaborate with development, manufacturing, procurement and supplier teams.

The candidate should have at least 5 years in supplier quality/QA, experience with GMP/ISO, and strong analytical skills; travel in excess of 15% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of supplier quality, engineering, or quality assurance experience; GMP/ISO or international regulations familiarity.
  • Experience planning and conducting internal or supplier audits; documenting findings and effectiveness verification.
  • Proven ability to manage supplier-related activities, including metrics, scorecards, risk assessment, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong experience with Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and corrective actions from initiation to closure.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration to mitigate supply chain risks and disruptions.
  • Strong communication, networking and influencing skills across organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and travel at least 15% (including international).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure suppliers and raw materials meet Gore's requirements.
  • Conduct supplier qualification activities and audits; guide suppliers to meet quality standards.
  • Lead risk assessments and mitigation planning with cross-functional teams.
  • Define and monitor supplier performance metrics and scorecards.
  • Use data analysis to identify high-risk suppliers and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve material problems and minimize supply chain impact.
  • Create and close SCARs and drive corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in the supplier quality management system.
  • Perform incoming inspection activities as needed.

About The Role

Gore Fabrics is looking for a Supplier Quality Assurance Associate to join our Quality Assurance team. In this role, you will participate in the evaluation, qualification, and monitoring of Gore's sourcing of externally provided components, supplies, and services. You will work in conjunction with development, manufacturing, procurement, raw materials, warehouse, and supplier teams to evaluate and monitor suppliers' quality systems and performance to meet Gore's requirements.

This position will be located in Elkton, Maryland, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement.

Pay And Benefits

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for making sure our suppliers and the raw materials they provide meet all requirements
  • Perform supplier qualification activities including conducting audits, working with suppliers to help them understand Gore Fabric's quality requirements and close gaps in their quality systems or processes
  • Drive supplier risk assessment evaluation, developing mitigation plans, and provide quality supply chain risks during commercialization phase in partnership with a cross-functional team
  • Perform supplier-related activities such as defining performance metrics, completing/evaluating supplier score cards, monitoring activities, continuous improvement, etc.
  • Use quantitative analysis to identify high-risk suppliers and develop strategies for mitigating risks in supplier quality systems
  • Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams on material problems to reduce and/or eliminate impact on the supply chain
  • Create and close Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and internal corrective actions
  • Identify and drive implementation of supplier management continuous improvement changes in the quality-management system
  • Perform incoming inspection activities as needed to support continuous supply
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of supplier quality, engineering, or quality assurance experience, with a minimum 2 years supporting compliance to GMP, ISO, or international regulatory requirements
  • Experience planning, conducting, and supporting internal, external, or supplier audits, including documentation of findings, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification
  • Proven ability to independently manage supplier-related activities, including establishing and monitoring performance metrics, evaluating supplier scorecards, assessing risk, developing mitigation plans, identifying trends, making risk-based recommendations, and driving continuous improvement, etc.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and internal corrective actions from initiation through closure, while coaching and mentoring on corrective action requirements, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional teams to proactively identify, mitigate, and minimize the impact of supply chain risks and disruptions

  • Strong communication, networking, and influencing skills with the ability to build productive partnerships and drive alignment across multiple functional areas and organizational levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel at least 15%, including international travel
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or related field and/or industry training or certification(s) in Lean manufacturing methods/tools such as structured problem solving, Lean Six Sigma, etc.
  • Certified Lead Auditor certificate and/or ASQ Supplier Quality Professional Certification (CSQP)
  • Experience in chemical industry
