Job summary

Ford of Canada is seeking a quality engineering leader for Oakville Assembly Complex. The role focuses on driving manufacturing quality, process capability, and corrective actions within the FPS framework.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering, leadership experience in manufacturing, and the ability to work shifts. Master’s degree and Canadian equivalency may be preferred. Salary ranges reflect market practices in Canada.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Understand daily warranty claim reports and drive resolution with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead EOL/CAL/FTT inhibitors analysis and containment activities.
  • Maintain quality control updates and heat maps for subsystems.
  • Conduct Control plan audits to ensure process capability on key characteristics.
  • Own quality and capability of manufacturing processes within Assembly.
  • Apply engineering principles to drive continuous improvement per FPS.
  • Lead 8D problem solving and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Support Launch Quality Operating System initiatives and workstation readiness.
  • Conduct process audits to ensure compliance with FPS standards.
  • Lead lean manufacturing initiatives and variability reduction.

What you'll do...
The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
  • Understand daily warranty claim reports by participating in binning meetings and lead to resolution working with a cross functional team and support and maintain warranty analytics system.
  • Understand Daily End of Line (EOL) & Customer Acceptance Line (CAL) and First Time Through (FTT) inhibitors related to subsystem and drive containment and corrective action.
  • Ensure quality control management updates for subsystem are maintained and adjusted as outcome of External / Internal Indicator. Manage Heat maps for the subsystem to ensure all critical Workstations are identified for improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct Control plan audits to ensure frequency, sampling to achieve Process capability on Key Critical Characteristics related to subsystem.
  • Own the Quality and the capability of the manufacturing processes within the Assembly department.
  • Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to drive continuous improvement to manufacturing processes as per the Ford Production System (FPS).
  • Lead development of interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D methodology and structured problem-solving tools.
  • Play an integral role in the Launch Quality Operating System initiatives & Launch process by establishing and monitoring quality target levels at the workstation level for each build phase to validate workstations readiness.
  • Conduct process audits to ensure process adheres to Vehicle Operations guidelines and specific process standards in line with FPS.
  • Act as team leader in resolving assembly related concerns. Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices.
  • Support ISO 14001 compliance and support internal ISO auditing and compliance as required.
  • Lead development of solutions for throughput constraints.
  • Manage and direct statistical process control activities related to subsystem.
  • Review internal/external suppliers for critical characteristic process compatibility.
  • Support efficiency planning to ensure workstations are properly set up with quality risks identified and addressed.
You'll Have:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required).
Experience:
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work all shifts; days, afternoons and/or midnights, as required.
