Metro Plastics Technologies is an industry leader in custom plastic injection molding. With over 50 years in business, Metro Plastics has extensive plastic production capabilities, engineering expertise, and a dedicated on-site tool room and metrology lab supporting operations in a newly built state-of-the-art facility in Noblesville, IN.

PURPOSE: A PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) Coordinator is an employee tasked with planning and ensuring quality consistency in the creation of a part. This position's primary objective is to provide a controlled plan to identify and swiftly counter any factor that could alter the specifications and production tolerance for a given part, such as tool attrition or temperature fluctuations during production.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and lead the entire PPAP process for new and existing products, ensuring compliance with customer-specific requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, quality control, and supply chain, to gather all required documentation and data for PPAP submission.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to ensure accuracy and completeness of PPAP documentation.
  • Work closely with production and quality teams to ensure that the production process is capable of consistently meeting customer specifications.
  • Oversee and take part in the measurement and inspection activities, ensuring that proper measurement equipment and techniques are used, and that measurement data is accurate and well-documented.
  • Communicate with customers regarding PPAP status, addressing any concerns or questions, and ensuring timely submission and approval of PPAP packages.
  • Maintain records of all PPAP submissions and approvals and provide regular updates to management on PPAP progress and performance.
  • Assist with production when needed and support with quality questions about parts.
  • Maintain records of all new tool samples or engineering change samples.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent; minimum of 6 months’ experience in quality manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of plastic molding process, preferably injection molding and PPAP process.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities with strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter and able to effectively work without close supervision.
  • Flexibility and ability to handle and manage change effectively and efficiently.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
  • Employee will stand or walk most of their work hours
  • Employee will routinely use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
