Job summary

Stellantis seeks a Quality Plant Engineer at our Vehicle Assembly Plant to own all aspects of product conformity for systems and components. You will report to the PQE Lead and partner with plant and corporate teams to deliver quality improvements and meet customer expectations.

You will validate changes, drive Kaizen-based improvements, lead risk assessments, and coordinate cross-functional activities to ensure timely delivery of quality targets across programs and lines.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
  • Strong data analysis to identify top issues and trends.
  • Effective presentation skills to all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with problem solving tools.
  • Ability to coach and teach others.
  • Self-motivated and able to handle high-intensity environment with multiple projects.
  • Understanding build process from a 4M1D standpoint.

Responsibilities

  • Validate product changes and improve outgoing quality to meet customer expectations.
  • Respond to manufacturing quality issues and manage product changes.
  • Support continuous quality improvement initiatives using kaizen methods.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive stakeholder action.
  • Monitor KPI management for quality targets and escalation.
  • Review CQI claims and manage Warranty Wall contributions.
  • Lead vehicle quality improvements addressing nonconformity to quality targets.
  • Support Corporate Quality objectives and communicate requirements across groups.
  • Lead internal and external resources to meet project timing.
  • Identify issues/risks in designs and processes using FMEA and risk tools.

Job description

The Quality Plant Engineer (QPE) - Responsible for all aspects of product conformity for their systems / Components at the Vehicle Assembly Plant. The QPE reports directly to the PQE Lead and will build effective relationships with both salaried and hourly, assembly plant/corporate personnel, in order to complete projects within their area of responsibility.


Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Validating product changes, providing technical expertise, and improving outgoing quality that will meet or exceed our customers' expectations.
  • With unquestioned integrity and strength of conviction, the PQE responds to manufacturing quality issues and manages all product changes.
  • Through the usage of advanced problem-solving methods and SPW kaizen methodology, the PQE supports all continuous quality improvement initiatives within the plant.
  • PQE must work collaboratively with cross-functional manufacturing teams and facilitate consensus and drive action from the main stakeholders.
  • Support external quality Key Performance Indicators (KPI) management for achieving targets, driving improvement/corrective actions and escalation
  • Review warranty/Customer Quality Insight (CQI) claims daily, maintain issue stratification and maintain the portion of Warranty Wall responsible for their area.
  • Lead improvement activities in vehicle quality by addressing nonconformity to product quality targets (SCA, VLO, BSR, and TDF performance driven to assigned targets)
  • Support Corporate Quality objectives/deliverables and communicate requirements to all groups involved to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Collaborate and lead internal and external resources to achieve project/program timing.
  • Lead teams to identify issues/risks associated with product designs, processes and applications by utilizing FMEA's and other risk assessment tools.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited university (or other Engineering degrees, in combination with relevant experience)
  • Well versed in both Microsoft and Google applications
  • Ability to perform data analysis to identify top issues, summarize trends, distinctions, and effectiveness of corrective actions and continuous improvement activities
  • Effective presentation/public speaking skills (comfortable presenting to all levels of the organization)
  • Experience with problem solving tools
  • Able to demonstrate both coaching and teaching
  • Self-motivated and directed
  • Ability to thrive in a high intensity environment while working on multiple projects
  • A passion for spending time on the shop floor and fully understanding the build process from a 4M1D standpoint (man, method, machine, material, and design)

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Advanced Degree
  • Reactive Green Belt / Black Belt Certification
  • Previous experience in resolving complex issues; including root cause, repairs, etc.
  • Previous experience in Product Engineering and/ or Vehicle Integration / Development at supplier or Tier 1 Automotive Manufacturer
  • Previous Manufacturing and/or Quality experience within a vehicle/Component assembly plant
