Quality

The Amarillo Quality Assurance Department ensures adherence to our Quality Management System (QMS), conformity to our engineering requirements and communicate both verbally and in writing at all levels of management. This role will be assisting Quality operations in First Article Inspection (FAI) creation, new program plan reviews, and receiving inspection plan creation. A liaison for repeat or high-risk defects between Manufacturing, Quality Engineering Production Engineering and Engineering. Other duties can include assistance in startup programs or processes.

What you’ll be doing as a Quality Operations Specialist
  • Assist and coordinate First Article Inspection activity by resolving CAMs issues related to FAIs; assisting in the creation and tracking of First Article Requirement Records (FARR); providing reports and status updates as requested; planning and scheduling for large scale FAI projects; and requesting and coordinating resources.
  • Assist and coordinate the review of new program planning (FLRAA) to ensure accuracy and readability of the planned instructions. Will ensure all new planned instructions have inspect points embedded in appropriate and sensible locations and meets the Amry requirements for CSI (Critical Safety Item) parts. Will also create Inspection work plans for receiving inspection using model-based engineering to determine criticalness of the part and characteristics to be verified.
  • Liaison between MFG, QE, ENG, and PE organizations for continuous improvement within the business by assisting with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) projects and assisting in DCMA Corrective Action Request (CAR).
  • Maintain a team environment that simultaneously includes compliance to requirements and continuous process improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to engage the workforce in building quality into our products.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Bell department and plant policies and procedures.
  • Further develop soft skills by working collaboratively with all levels of Bell across multiple facilities including liaison engineering, production engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and DCMA.
Skills You Bring To this Role
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing training preferred.
  • CATIA V6, and 3DX training preferred.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Strong knowledge in Bell’s systems (ENOVIA, SAP, PowerBi, PEO etc.) preferred.
What you need to be successful
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years experience in aviation preferred.
  • Technical writing experience preferred.
