RWJBarnabas Health's Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, NJ seeks a Quality Nurse (RN) to join the Quality Resource Services team. This salaried, day-shift role focuses on performance improvement, patient safety, and data-driven care initiatives across the organization.

Ideal candidates hold an active NJ RN license with BLS, a BSN preferred, and at least two years of clinical quality experience. Commitment to ongoing education, CPHP/CPPS certifications within two years of hire recommended.

Qualifications

Active New Jersey RN license and current BLS certification.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
Two years of clinical experience with healthcare quality focus.
Willingness to obtain CPHQ & CPPS within two years of hire.
Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills with EMR.
Strong analytical, verbal and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

Assist in coordinating clinical services and performance improvement initiatives (Peer Review, Mortality Review, Root Cause Analysis).
Support peer review, QAPI, Patient Safety committees and disseminate action plans.
Schedule SEC meetings bi-monthly and monitor outcomes.
Collaborate with departments to improve workflow, mortality, readmissions, and CMS star ratings.
Help develop clinical indicators and communicate performance internally.
Contribute to data projects and teaching materials for organizational needs.
Lead onboarding training for new staff and support orientation for high reliability.
Assist in EMR reviews to identify gaps in patient care.

Facility Overview:

Located in Belleville, Clara Maass Medical Center is a facility of RWJBarnabas Health and provides a complete continuum of care to residents of northern New Jersey. With over 700 physicians and 2,100 employees, we offer advanced treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions. Our facility includes centers for advanced wound care, sleep disorders, bariatrics, orthopedics cardiac services, cancer care, emergency services, and more. In 2017, the Medical Center completed a state-of-the-art campus expansion featuring a new four-story 87,000 square foot building with a private, 32-bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby, Retail Pharmacy, Patient Registration Area and newly expanded Emergency Department.

As a Quality Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

Assisting in the communication and coordination of clinical services and initiatives for performance improvement via Peer Review, Mortality Review, Root Cause Analysis and Apparent Cause Analysis.
Support and participate in the peer review, QAPI, Patient Safety committee(s), and implement the action plan disseminated by the committee(s).
Support and schedule SEC (Safety Event Classification) meeting bi-monthly.
Collaborate with other departments to create and maintain a safe and efficient practice workflow by understanding data for mortality, readmissions, safe and effective care, timeliness and efficiency.
Assists Director in development of key clinical indicators for routine monitoring of performance and communicate performance internally.
Works with AVP and Directors on clinical data projects aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and CMS star ratings.
Create teaching material to support organizational needs.
Play a critical role in onboard training of new clinical staff and support in the orientation process for high reliability organization.
Assist in EMR reviews to identify potential gaps in patient care.
Perform other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by completing other job-related assignments and special projects as directed.
Consistently utilize appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
Adhere to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
Comply with established organization and department policies.

To be considered for this Quality RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, with two (2) years of clinical experience and an understanding of healthcare quality. Must be willing to obtain CPHQ & CPPS certifications within two (2) years of hire. Must have a working knowledge of medical terminology and proficient computer skills, particularly with spreadsheets, data analysis, and presentation tools along with basic skills to navigate through EMR and various surveillance systems. Must have a high level of analytical skills necessary to plan, collect, analyze, and report data. Have well developed communication skills, verbal and written, to effectively inform, instruct, and facilitate matters of infection prevention. Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with others and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all information utilized within the department.
