Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Quality Microbiology Laboratory Technician to perform routine and special testing of materials, monitor environmental conditions, and maintain accurate documentation to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.

You will prepare media and reagents, manage CoA/CoC issuance, and support investigations into out-of-spec results while operating in a cleanroom environment. This role offers day shift hours and a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in microbiology, biology, environmental science or related field with 1–2 years of laboratory experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 0 years.
• Experience in basic microbiological techniques e.g. aseptic technique, bioburden testing, endotoxin testing, and environmental monitoring.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex procedures accurately.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work in cleanroom environments and follow gowning procedures.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform routing and specialized testing of raw materials, incoming goods, intermediates, and finished products per SOPs.
• Conduct environmental monitoring of air and water, including bioburden and endotoxin testing.
• Prepare biological media, chemical reagents, glassware and equipment for testing.
• Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory consumables to support operations.
• Issue Certificates of Analysis (CoA) and Certificates of Compliance (CoC) with accuracy.
• Assist in management of non-conforming materials and OOS investigations.
• Participate in development and validation of new test procedures and refining existing protocols.
• Contribute to product and process improvements with cross-functional teams.
• Maintain organized laboratory notebook with observations and results.
• Adhere to safety protocols and keep the lab clean and hazard-free.
