Job summary
AL-FE HEAT TREATING INC. is seeking a Quality Manager to lead the Quality department across Defiance, OH and Saginaw, MI facilities. You will implement and control all manufacturing quality systems, train staff in SPC and inspection, and drive corrective actions for customer complaints.
The role requires a metallurgy degree, 5+ years of manufacturing experience, and strong knowledge of heat treating, SAE steels, and quality planning. Travel up to 25% is possible.
Qualifications
- Must hold a degree in Metallurgy or related field.
- Minimum five years of manufacturing experience.
- Extensive knowledge of heat treating principles including time, temperature, transformation relations, SAE steels, hardness and microstructural analysis.
- Experience with SPC (Statistical Process Control) and quality control methods.
Responsibilities
- Lead Quality department including Quality Tech.
- Analyze rejected work and determine disposition using chemical and microstructural analysis and heat treating cycles.
- Specify processing parameters for new jobs from purchase orders, specifications and drawings.
- Ensure staff training in SPC, inspection techniques, record keeping and heat treating principles.
- Maintain complete quality records including calibration and gage control; analyze trends in data.
