What you'll do

We're excited to announce a dynamic opportunity for a talented Quality Manager to join our growing Aviation Regulatory Compliance team! This role offers the flexibility and convenience of fully remote work, allowing you to contribute from anywhere in the United States.

Viasat's Aviation Regulatory Compliance function is dedicated to ensuring that FAA, EASA, CAAC, TC and other global agency requirements are understood and implemented for both new and used parts. You will work within Viasat's Aviation Regulatory Compliance team and will support operations at several Viasat line maintenance sites across the U.S. involving interactions with line maintenance managers, supervisors, technicians, customers, and regulatory authorities. In this position you will employ your skills and experience to ensure the ongoing success of Viasat's repair station certification.

The day-to-day

Viasat is looking for an upbeat, organized, and motivated professional who has an excellent quality background to support our Global Mobility Business Unit. You should be able to strategically work within the business unit to monitor, oversee, and continuously improve processes, training, and documentation to support compliance for the repair station. In this role, you will be an integral leader and will be relied upon for guidance to resolve technical issues and inspire change in others.

  • Ensure Viasat follows Quality System Manual and aviation regulatory requirements.
  • Be a primary point of contact to support and resolve regulatory issue.
  • Manage audit schedule and conduct high quality audits.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead auditee for customer and regulatory audits.
  • Work closely with Viasat's Line Maintenance teams to support repair station offices at several locations within the continental United States.
  • Manage Part 145 Repair Station regulatory requirements to maintain FAA certification.

What you'll need

  • 7+ years of experience in quality management.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience leading internal audits and external audits (regulatory and customers).
  • Experience leading root cause and corrective action plans.
  • Solid understanding of 14 CFR part 145 and Drug & Alcohol program requirements.
  • Excellent communication, writing, documentation, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and ability to influence the wider team.
  • Competent in presenting results at meetings and generating regulatory compliance guidelines.
  • Motivated teammate who enjoys a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stay connected with colleagues across multiple geographical areas.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Up to 20% domestic travel to various customer sites.

What will help you on the job

  • Previous Quality Manager or Accountable Manager at a Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility or part 145 Repair Station.
  • Current or previous certification as an A&P mechanic or Repairman.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 standards.
  • Experience training internal teams on FAA regulations.
  • Experience supporting line maintenance for an airline.
  • Knowledge of Commercial In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity systems.

Salary range

104,000.00 - $164,500.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $129,000.00- $194,000.00 / annually
