Job summary

Job description

AMS seeks a Quality Manager to support and maintain our ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System and ensure the production of top-notch components across all manufacturing operations. You will work within the quality team alongside quality engineers, inspectors, and quality leads while partnering with the Sr. Quality Manager, Operations Manager, and Manufacturing Process Engineering to maintain our quality framework, drive continuous improvement, and ensure repeatable quality in our production parts. This role requires solid quality management expertise, statistical analysis skills, and the ability to execute and sustain quality system processes.

Key job responsibilities
Quality Management System Ownership
  • Support and maintain the ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System
  • Manage internal and external tools that host and support the QMS
  • Maintain and update policies, standards, and procedures
  • Support internal and external ISO 9001 audits and ensure continuous compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement of the QMS to enhance effectiveness and efficiency
  • Manage document control and change management processes
  • Conduct gap analysis to identify QMS improvement opportunities and compliance risks
Quality Assurance and Statistical Analysis
  • Oversee quality assurance programs and processes to maintain consistent product quality
  • Maintain quality standards, specifications, and testing procedures across all manufacturing modalities
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and quality checks to identify and address deviations and non-conformities
  • Perform Gage R&R studies to ensure measurement system accuracy and repeatability
  • Conduct process capability analysis (Cp, Cpk) to validate process performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Oversee first article inspections and production quality verification
  • Manage quality metrics and reporting systems
  • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of inspection and measurement equipment
Process Improvement and Six Sigma
  • Support Six Sigma projects to reduce defects and improve process capability
  • Apply statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing processes to enhance product quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conduct process capability studies and implement statistical process control across all operations
  • Drive quality improvement projects across CNC machining, 3D printing, welding, sheet metal fabrication, powder coating, and assembly
  • Utilise Lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and improve quality
Compliance and Documentation
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and certifications relevant to additive and subtractive manufacturing
  • Maintain comprehensive records of quality metrics, inspection results, and corrective actions taken
  • Support ISO 9001 certification maintenance and recertification activities
  • Ensure proper documentation and traceability throughout manufacturing operations
  • Stay current with regulatory changes and industry best practices
  • Conduct gap analysis to ensure compliance with evolving standards and customer requirements
Supplier and Material Quality
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of incoming materials and components
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve the quality of sourced materials
  • Support supplier audits and qualification
  • Track supplier quality performance and corrective actions
  • Maintain incoming inspection procedures and standards
Customer Satisfaction
  • Serve as a point of contact for customer quality concerns
  • Collaborate with the Customer Success team to address customer feedback
  • Manage customer complaints and corrective action processes
  • Drive customer satisfaction through quality excellence
  • Support Application Engineers with quality requirements and specifications
Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action
  • Investigate quality issues and implement root cause analysis techniques to identify the source of defects
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Support failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) activities
  • Drive systemic improvements to prevent recurrence of quality issues
  • Coordinate with manufacturing teams on quality investigations
Team Collaboration and Development
  • Collaborate with quality engineers, inspectors, and quality leads to achieve quality objectives
  • Mentor and coach team members on technical skills, statistical methods, and quality principles
  • Foster a culture of quality throughout the organization
  • Train manufacturing teams on quality standards, procedures, and statistical tools
  • Drive quality awareness and accountability across all departments
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience with precision torque, measurement and inspection devices (i.e., automated and manual torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, profilometers, optical inspection devices, multi-meters, torque wrenches)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in contract manufacturing or high-mix production environments

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
